Hi,

In the market for a weekend toy. Would like to own a ferrari. However i admit i have a rather limited amount of knowledge of the brand. Just wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Wouldnt really want to spend more than £30,000 closer to 25,000 would be better. Would need to be right hand drive. Outright speed isnt the biggest issue, Just want somthing fun and to be honest that will look good!(bad attitude i know)

So can anyone help??

Many thanks
Mike

A nice 328 would fit the bill.

Gorgeous looks, driving thrills at sensible speeds and relatively inexpensive to maintain.

So what are the models within my budget

328
308?
348?
Stretch to 355?? (not sure if that would be worth it)

Whats the main differences between them? Is there anything i should definatly avoid?

Agreed, £27-£30k will get a very nice post 92' 348 which would be (and was) my pick of those mentioned above.

I do like the 348. What is the performance like?? Also how hard is it to get used to a lhd?? Any common problems with them?

Thanks

The 348 is a much maligned, but in reality great great car.

I had a Spider ... loved it and gave it some real stick ... only ever lost it once at Bruntingthgorpe when i was actually trying to find it's limit smile

£27-28k will get you a very nice later RHD car.

Yes, the 328s are well loved, but the 348 is more modern. Performance, ample! !76 top end and just a smidge over 5 secs to 62. But the way they get the power down is wonderful.

Get one with a Tubi fitted and the sound will live with you forever ... emial me your mobile No and I'll send you a short video clip ... simply awesome!

I then went to a brill 911 Carrera, now back with a TVR Griff 500, but that is for sale as i want to go back to a 348 smile

Hello mate how's things with you, it's been a while since we last spoke. I know what you mean about the image. Get's me thinking at times but with that budget (the same as mine) i'd go for the 348.

Yea not bad mate. The race car is nearly finished. Just dont need two cerbs! I think the 348 is the best option. Just dont want to get the wrong image. Was bad enough trying to convince people the cerb wasnt my dads!!!

You havent spoken to me because i havent been out of the garage for about 8 months building the race car! Will all be back to normal soon!

confused Which way? You look too old for the car or the car looks too old for you?

Car looks to old for me!!! Just turned 20. Even the girlfriend has mentioned that it looks like a "dads" car. (Not really sure what she meant)

I'd buy a Punto if I were you. I've seen them with Murcielago style doors too - no way you'd be mistaken for driving your dad's car then...plus you get those lambo touches too

I can't understand why you asked what Ferrari you should go for, and then suggest that they will make you look too old?

I would definately consider a 348 and i'm not that much older than you. Also always liked the look of the 308 but reliability and runnning costs scare me too much.

No not the fact it makes me look old. Its a bit like people calling BMW drivers wa**ers...

Just wondered if anyone else thought like that about the 348 etc. I like the cars dont get me wrong, just wanted to see if the image was a problem to anyone else.

I would be more concerned about the driving experience than what other people would think of me ... do you want a car or an image ?
