Anyone had this upgrade done on a 993 4s?
Would you recommend it?

...not really an answer to your question I'm afraid, more of a ramble, but here's my tuppence worth:

9m have looked after my 993 C2 for the last 3 years, and I've spent a fair bit of time talking to them about their heads, talking through dyno readouts from cars they've fitted them to, running through various options with them etc etc. There have also been a couple of decent magazine articles (can't remember which mags, sorry) on the 9m cars.

What it comes down to for me is - is it worth £12-15k (£10k + VAT, + some contingency when they find some other bits that could do with replacement / renewal)to gain an extra 50-60 bhp? (and a useful gain in torque). The answer for me is "yes" - BUT - that's a fair amount of dosh for me to find for discretionary upgrades, as opposed to necessary repairs, so its not going to be happening anytime soon.

Don't think there's much dispute about the 9m heads effectiveness or quality, just comes down to whether they look affordable and represent value for money to you!

I agree I think if you ignore the cost (a bit silly I know) the upgrade is probably the best for any NA 993....you retain everything nice about a NA993 i.e. the athletic nature of the engine, linear power delivery and that sound......

...plus you get the power a 993 needs.

I think it would especially suit a 4S, give it some power to exploit that lovely chassis and overcome the weight.

Thanks Floop for the answer.

If the torque/bhp figures are real I may go for it...
If 9m could drop the price by 25/30% I would not hesitate.

A 993 4s with mk1 perf...... smile

I would get it done at the drop of a hat if it was half the price. If I end up spending the 10 to 12K that it currently costs it will be on a 993TT.

If you decide you are going to keep your car for ever than I can see the financial basis for doing it. The reality is you will never recover the money on this upgrade, whereas if you spend the money on a trading up to a TT you will get most of it back come resale time.

I'm not knocking the conversion it appears to be a very well Engineered piece of kit. I just doesnt't appear to offer good value for money to me.
