Hello guys and girls,

Can anyone confirm the weight of the below 19" wheels compared to the standard 18" Avus S4(B6) wheels? I've been thinking about replacing the standard ones, but am concerned they wont be the correct offset etc. Is it possible to just swap them over or is there more to it than that?

I'm just checking the tyre sizes to make sure the rolling radius is the same for both sets....

Any thoughts?

The S4 4.2 V8 can use wheels with an offset of 38-42mm and go up to a maximim of 8.5 inch wheel width all round. The A8 19s (recent S8s come with 20s standard fit) come in 8.5 and 9 inch widths and the offsets vary. They come in 37, 43 and 45mm offset. The 37 will fit but they will stick out by 1mm more than the tolerance, the 43 and 45 may rub on the inner arch. If you are buying the wheels new the store should advise you on fitment. If you are going to buy second hand let me know and I'll tell you how to measure the offset accurately.
To get the rolling radius near to the original with 19x8.5s you will need a 245/35/19 tyre. This will make you slightly out on the speedo, so when your speedo reads 60 you will be doing about 61.

Cheers for that Meditative,

I found info here about the rolling radius, the 19" are on 235/35/19 rubber so very little difference in speedo reading:

www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

The 45 offset concerns me a little, and I'm not 100% about the look of the wheels (a mate is offering them so maybe I will try them an see!). I've not been able to find any info on the weight either...maybe I'll get them on a set of scale to see!

Thanks again
