Alonso now claiming that McLaren are favouring Hamilton. Sour grapes or possibility?

But I don't think "favouring" is the right word. RD is a shrewd principal, and if he sees LH doing better than FA, he is going to give LH more. LH is driving more consistently than FA this season, although I think FA is faster. But McLaren needs consistent point scoring to win the Manufacturers' Championship, and LH is doing better in that regard. It's what any rational team principal would do, IMHO.

Not sure how he can claim that when just over 2 weeks ago he had the race won from lap 10 or so, with the team telling Lewis to not challenge. The reason he is so far behind in Canada was due to being over ambitious and making mistakes, on top of falling foul to the new saftey car rule that saw 4 people in total penalised(2 removed from the race).

Of course a rookie in any team will get a higher level of support from any team, and I dont think this is any different, a double world champion should be capable of getting on with the job whereas the rookie will need advising what i shappening at certain times of a gp weekend.

You will always get an element of favoritism in any team that supports 2 drivers, human nature dictates this, and the fact that Mclaren are a British team and have a british driver is only natural, if he was in a spanish team with a british driver, I am sure he would be the favourite driver, in fact, wasnt there time at Renault that he got new parts for the car and Fisi didnt, new developement engine i seem to remember, if thats not fovouring one driver over an other then i dont know what is.

As we have seen a few times now this year, Alonso is VERY dismissive when he finsihes or indeed qualified behind Lewis, maybe he is now showing his true colours, who knows, lets just hope he carries on cocking up and is not the competition to lewis that he would like to think that he is.

i dont think alonso did himself any favours by constantly binning the car at the first turn, if his car was damaged, he should have driven round the problem, but by throwing it accross the grass three or four times, he showed the pressure was getting to him.

Alonso needs to concentrate more on his driving rather than coming out with stuff like this, he comes across very badly making those comments. It was him that made a number of mistakes in Canada (and got passed by an Aguri!), he has not driven like a double world champion this year and needs to up his game.

Sounds like a bag of grapefruits to me.

Anyway the team are celebrating Lewis's win strongly because it's his first. If Alonso thinks back to his first win I'm sure he'd have had a bigger celebration than he did for his 2nd or 3rd or 4th.....etc.

It would very much surprise me if that were true. McLaren's natural predisposition must've been to gear themselves up for a third Alonso WDC with a grooming year for Lewis. Lewis himself admits he was taken on as the number two.

It's way, way too early in the year for them to write off Alonso's chances in favour of Hamilton - both are in the running and, Ferrari are far from out of it yet.

In any event, I'm sure McLaren have the resources to run two drivers with their own personnel quite happily.

The wider issue is that Alonso, by publically coming out with a statement that is probably not true, may create those very circumstances by pissing off his mechanics and the wider team.

Or, of course, he may have been misquoted. Perish the thought...

Whatever people thought of Schumacher, he never criticised his team in public.

I've always thought Alonso is a whinging little scrote, when it doesn't go his way. Renault last year was a perfect example, he's had a pop at them since leaving aswell.

I think that although Alonso did a fantastic job at Renault in 05 and 06, I think he, like many, didn't expect Lewis to be so bloody quick in his first season of F1.

Alonso probably thought he would have the upper hand on 07 to claim a third Championship back-back before all the major changes come into effect in 08 which would have put every driver and team on a slightly more even keel.

I think also that Alonso thinks he is a much better driver than Lewis and having watched the way that Lewis has driven on the opening lap, I guess that Alonso must have thought - shite this McLaren can really be driven hard and is forgiving to the driver, I'll have a go at that. Funny then that Alonso has tried to drive it the same way as Lewis and has fallen off the road on both occasions. Maybe Lewis is a better driver than Alonso, could this be because his race skill has not been erased from the over technically driven style of racing cars that F1 has seen over the past decade or so? As the technical gizmos are pealed away we suddenly see that some drivers really do not have the natural skill that all the techy stuff has shielded them for all these years?

Maybe when 'Our Nige' said that modern day F1 cars can be driven by clowns, or something on those lines, he was not far from the truth...

Me thinks that removing all the technical shite on these cars really will make for more interesting racing as the new breed of young (no technically driven) racing drivers come through the lower ranks in the coming years...

Alonso is clearly feeling the heat, being outraced by a ookie team mate.

His comments are childish but not surprising after his comments that Hamilton was 'lucky' in Canada, and I dont recall anyone forcing him to join McLaren either

All the hype is getting to him more than it is affecting LH. The way he is behaving is quite pathetic really, just playing into his main rival's (LH) hands. He could at least act like he was'nt worried!
