After a fantastic 200 mile drive from Cherbourg, all on D Roads, we arrived early this afternoon at our base for the next week - taken as we arrived:

We didn't see any Gendarmes - we are about 15-20 mins south west of the Circuit. We stopped at one of our other Hotels for a fantastic gastromomic lunch, and arrived at around 3pm to enjoy a few cold beers by the moat!

The weather is around 24C & sunny - it feels warmer. Apparently it will rain tomorrow according to the local weather forecast, and then brighten up for a nice warm weekend.

Going to the Circuit tomorrow - hope to post some more pictures & a gendarme update then.

Have a great journey everyone! drivingdriving

Now you're just showing off!

We'll be down on Thursday with the Sag. I'm hoping she doesn't throw a wobbler when we drive past her usual Le Mans home and into the campsite.

OK - now we've seen the Gendarmes - plenty of them! As you would expect there are lots of them around the circuit and Arnage. It reminds me of a scene from the Great Escape biggrin

Heard a rumour from one of our guests that the French cop were in super-awkward mode in Calais this morning - interrogating all British drivers of sports cars, and demanding papers, checking number plates and asking for stickers to be removed yikes

Weather was 27 degrees today with the odd spot of rain - and the odd CLOUDBURST frown
Weather forecast for tomorrow is more of the same - Sun is still forecast for le weekend biggrin

The Mulsanne Straight closed at lunch time today as there is Qualifying Practice this evening - this prompted us sneak onto the circuit to take a little snap on an empty Mulsanne Straight:

If I call-in all the beers I'm owed, I'm gonna be very wobble then VERY drunk - followed by bigmouth and blabla - quickly followed by grumpy and rapidly argue and often punch.

Then back to my room for a cry (for absolutely NO REASON) followed eventually by sleep

Us Girls eh? silly

Thanks for the various head-ups. (or is that heads-up?). Lovely photo of your car too smile

However my main reason for posting was this:

asking for stickers to be removed
yikes indeed!!!
So - they were asking, but were they demanding and not letting people go if the stickers were left on??? Seems VERY harsh to me. Seeing as our team are 4 cars all stickered similarly, if they want one of us to remove them then they'll want us all do. It could easily take WELL over an hour to get ours off, EACH.

Am rather worried about that... What do other people reckon?

Cheers,
Leo

This was reported to us by one of our customers who had friends on the Dover-Calais ferry this morning. It may have been a one-off example of over-zealous French cop inconvenience-tactics.

We arrived yesterday and have seen several stickered-up UK cars around the circuit biggrin

French lesson...

French - - - No

English - - No

You can't tell me they have a law that gives them the right to do this? The other French word I'm just about to look up is Lawyer irked

Just arrived as well.

No hassle from les flick at all. There were quite a few traffic police around (marked and unmarked cars) so drove like a saint within 5kph of the limit all the way. Apart from a few cars doing silly speeds, it looked like most others were also adhering to the limits. Saw numerous PH-stickered cars. Jolly good for the brand!

Plenty of stickered up cars in Le Mans, so the police are certainly not worried about stickers down here.

Just popped the tent up below, now need to cut the grass wink
