I am looking to buy a Chimera either a 4.5 or 5.0, I am new to this but I feel I have a good local dealer in Fernhurst that will look after me. I am after some help on what I should go for and should I go with the dealer or EBay\local mags.
I have driven many nice cars so I want somthing that will make me smile, I will only use the car weekends if I am lucky so I know I will have the battery problem which is fine, is there anything else I should be thinking about.
Thanks for all your help

Hi,
I decided to buy my first (and current!) Chim from Ferhursts too. The two main reasons were that they were actually interested in and enthusiastic about the cars and my needs, and they provided a warranty, which was important to give me peace of mind due to the "reputation" that TVRs seemed to have.
I had intended to get a 400, but the one that matched my colour/trim spec happened to be a 450, and i can honestly say i have never looked back.
The original intention was just to use it as a weekend car, but that was 17 months and 16,000 miles ago! I can't resist driving it, and possibily as a result of this i have never broken down, or had any issues with the car.
Buy the car that is "sorted", and that feels right for you. Age, mileage, and engine size are less important than condition (all IMHO) - i'm sure Fernies will look after you.
The "battery problem" won't be an issue - if you ask Fernies nicely, they may throw in an accumate conditioner, which if you aske even nicer, they will plumb in for you so that life is easy
All the best, and keep us posted on your progress

Fernhurst seem pretty good. When I had a test drive there the guy was really helpful and as said above he was interested in what I wanted.
The thing with buying from a dealer is that you pay a premium but get a warranty which would give you peice of mind. You just have to weigh up whether you can get what you want for less and whether the lower price would cover any possible costs. e.g. if you pay £2k less for essentially the same car would that £2k saving cover any potential problems you have with the car.
As for looking for the right car if you don't see one you really want at a dealer make sure you have a look around at a few to see what you want in a Chimaera. As I have found during my search they all seem to have slight quirks and you eventually understand what is right for you.
Goodluck with the search.

Well done mate, thats a lovely looking car, and well done for getting the pic up so soon (looks like the pic was taken outside Fernies front door?).
There are a few of us about who take an occasional run out together, give us a shout when you fancy a hoon.
Where abouts in Hants are you?
