E39 "Sport" vs "SE" with M-Tech Options

I am looking for a 528 and have come across a car that is being advertised as a 528 Sport but which an HPI Check identifies as a 528 SE. However it does have (according to the current owner) "factory M-Tech specification" including suspension, seats and steering wheel.

What is the difference between a car like this - an SE with M-Tech bits - and a Sport?

Does it impact value?

call bmw with the chasis number and they will confirm what the car actually is
dvla always make mistakes over car classifications,
e.g wrong trim levels, fuel types, model numbers

- M-tech suspension (different springs, different antirollbar)
- Sport seats (Alcantara as standard)
- Sport 17" wheels
- M door sills
- M steering wheel
- M gearknob
- M-tech front and rear bumpers

Any views on value? Is a Sport worth more than sn SE with options - I assume M-Tech suspension etc were available as options on an SE.

It was also possible to buy an SE and add all of the Sport options by ticking the right boxes.

A lot of buyers bought an SE and went for the M-Sport steering wheel and seats for example.

Black headlining, black external door lower trims, black shadowline window trim and brushed aluminium interior trim (unless wood chosen as preference) as well.

A sport will always be worth more than se with options due to dealers not valuing options! Ie: you take it to dealer and they give book SE money.

Sports sell for higher money simply because they look like the correct design.

This started in the E39 and if you look at the E60 and E90 series, you can see it's continuing.
