HID's on a Cerb
Discussion
I have fitted these to a couple of other cars with projector headlights. IMO this is one of the best mods you can do to improve lighting output. Now, I'm talking about the full HID kit with ballasts, not the so-called xenon bulbs advertised.
Has anyone installed a HID kit to a cerbera?
I can see this being somewhat of a mare, and have noticed some Tuscan owners have done this assuming the Hella projector lights are the same on both cars. Me thinks accessibility will be the main issue.
Can anyone give me any pointers?

I had mine fitted by joo at trackcar, they are excellent and you can see so clearly at night whereas the standard cerb setup is more and imo dangerous at night.
quite a few people flash you though as they are quite bright

I read on the Tuscan thread that there is the possibility of a levelling motor on the back of the headlights (not connected up) If this is true, could be ideal for situations when on-coming traffic flash and when carrying weight in the back.
Anyone installed HID's themselves?
Yes I did, to my 4.5 with new style lights.
There's an old thread somewhere about the need to modify the headlight control box so the dips (the HIDs) stay on when main beam is selected.
You need to add 2 diodes to the control box; you have to do this because the HIDs done come to full brightness immediately.

Any idea roughly how old the thread is?
I found it by searching for 'diodes' :http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I fitted HID's to mine, which has the projector headlights. The worst part, as mentioned, is access to the back of the headlight, it was a f%#*ing c*#t to get the bulb in.
The wiring wasn't to bad, I just have dip beam HIDs, so they do need to stay on when main beam is on, but not to flash when flashing main beam. I don't know if flashing HIDs is ok but I didn't want to chance it.
They are amazingly powerfull and a good looking light, I also put some led side light bulbs in, because bulbs look very yellow compared to the new lights.

Don't think so. It's the idiots fitting them to normal halogen lamps that are causing problems
Factory fit HID's must be self-levelling and have a power wash. I have not heard of any issues with MOT's on the kits you can buy...yet
If there is a motor on the back of the headlights, you can have some adjustment downwards, which isn't a bad thing.

If they are factory fit they must have automatic self leveling fitted, but if they are aftermarket you don't need anything as far as I know.
I think it is best just to put them on someones headlight beam setter and set them on the low side because they are so bright.
I bought mine from Ebay (HIDs Direct) £100, I think, with a wiring kit included. 6000k seems to be about right for blueness and brightness.

Did you need to do any mods to make the dipped beam stay on with the headlights (my normal lights seem to work that way already). The wiring wasn't to bad, I just have dip beam HIDs, so they do need to stay on when main beam is on, but not to flash when flashing main beam. LED side light bulbs sound cool, where did you get these from?
Also while I'm at it, are your bulbs H7 type (I also have the tuscan lights on mine)
Thanks
The newer style/Tuscan style headlights use H7 bulbs,in the dip and main beam light units. The origional style, (one big single headlight) use H4 bulbs which have two filaments in a single bulb.
My car has the later style lights and I've used HID's just in the dip beam, mainly because you drive on dip beams and nowadays there are street lights everywhere so I rarely use main beam (now everyone is going to say there are no street lights within 10 miles of their house
)
When main/high beam was on the dip beam was on as well (all 4 on)which is what I wanted, but, I put a relay in the control box wiring, so when main beam was flashed (without the lights on) it didn't flash the dip (HID) lights, I don't know if this would damage the ballast's for the HID's but I didn't want to chance it.
Is everyone now confused?

Sorry I forgot to say, the led side light bulbs came from here http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/u5016w-white-xenon-supe... the light from the xenon led's is much whiter than bulbs, so compliments the HID's.
If that link doesn't work they are called Ultraleds and the bulbs to use are 6 led superbright xenon 12volt 501's
