First ride on a litre bike!!!
Discussion
Wow... still grinning from ear to ear!!!
Came home from work and a bloke from down the street stopped me outside my house. He's got an SV1000S and we got chatting and decided to go out for a ride.
We swapped bikes for a bit and I had my first blast on a 1000cc bike. I didn't push it too much, being someone else's bike, but came away feeling slightly dissapointed. There was a big grunty push and the bike was more comfortable. It felt a lot more stable, but heavier and harder to turn than the SV650S. Maybe a bit of time and giving it some more revs would have transformed my experience of the bike. Couldn't help thinking that the more flighty 650 was more fun somehow, especially as i can rag the tits off it without worrying.
So we carried on to the Red Lion at Avebury. Pulled up in the car park and got chatting to a bloke with a carbed Fazer 1000. Amazingly he handed the keys over, to the other guy and he went off for a spin. When the fazer owner offerd me the keys, some advice about being careful on the throttle and sent me on my way, promising that i'd like it.
I hope the swear filter works...
ME!!!! That was
ING insane!!!!
SO smooth, comfortable, and effortless... without going over 5k i was building speed faster than on the SV.. I stuck it in top gear and started playing with more and more throttle, and i swear that bike took off like a rocket!!! Don't think i got past 9k rpm and 1/2 to 3/4 throttle. But it really takes off. The suspension smoothes out bumps that would have my SV pogo-ing along the road, twitching around. And coming into corners and the one roundabout i went round it just keeps leaning over!!!
I thought i'd be shit scared of a 1000cc bike, but given a bit of respect they are really awesome machines.
If you haven't you've got to try it!!!

I am glad you enjoyed it ,
but when you mention the Sv as a litre bike, its total misrepresentation it doesnt compare with the big 4 true litre bikes .
theres a lot more out there .
I think that what you mean to say is that whilst the SV is in fact a true litre bike, its v-twin power delivery is different from an in-line four and of course it is also down on power (mainly because it doesn't rev as high). but when you mention the Sv as a litre bike, its total misrepresentation it doesnt compare with the big 4 true litre bikes .
theres a lot more out there .

Marcus, the Fireblade is nice.....but that R1 is just pure PORN!
Ah, but its the difference between Angelina Jolie in the w4nkbank, and the flesh and blood young lady in the bed next to you. All I have to do is find somewhere to MOT her, stick a tax disc on, and she and I are off to France. Yay!randlemarcus said:

OK the Falco obviously isn't an IL4 thou but christ its quick - its like a whole other league of power and I'm still on the learning curve after having the Hornet for 4 years.
With the throttle wide open in 2nd and 3rd its wheel off the ground time and astonishing levels of acceleration! Its awesome!
That said, I've got to say its still great to go out scratching on the Hornet and wring the neck out of it. The suspension is fully sorted and its actually far easier to ride fast on B roads and the bumpier A roads.

If you thought a Fazer Thou was insane, wait until you ride a proper litre bike!
Was gonna say the same thing Dave, my Fazer is nicely quick but a proper sports thou' would see me off in no time :PIts still quick enough to raise a smile though, if you're used to smaller engined stuff.

i disagree, while the 2004/2005 Fireblade is still a lovely bike, i would take a 2006/2007 one over an R1 any day, especially the HRC colour one.
Everyone has there own opinions. I had a 2004 CBR1000RR and had a few problems with it, which were sorted under warranty, but I thought the bike was bit boring...and I did 10,000 miles on it....I traded it in for my current 05 R1 which has now done 31,000 miles and in my opinion the 05 R1 is a better bike and more rewarding than the 04/05 Blade...I will say I haven't riden and 07 Blade so I obviously can't comment but after my experience of the 04 I really haven't wanted to jump on another....Gassing Station | Biker Banter | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
