I need to get to Portsmouth for 7am tomorrow to get the ferry but am worried about the delays for roadworks at Hindhead on the A3.

Does anyone know how bad the traffic will be at say 6am on this stretch?

thanks

Good point.

I have been recommended to stay on the Motorways.. They 'should' be ok at that time.

Personally I'll be on the M3, M27 then turn off from Southampton. But I suppose it depends where you're coming from.

Hindhead is bad at the best of times, but I would have thought that going south should be fine at that time...

Tend to agree with this but personally I would put on a half hour and chill in the ferry terminal if it all goes smooth at Hindhead.

Better to sit and watch the seagulls while waiting for the ferry rather than watching the seagulls and a departing ferry.

Hang a right at the thursley junction, go up the lanes, hang a left and a couple of rights, and you will come out onto the road coming down from farnham, mile or so down there and you will be at the hindhead lights, thereby avoiding all the traffic.
