Ferrari after sales service?
Discussion
Is this normal?
I bought my first Ferrari (a 2001 360 Spider) in March from a dealer (no name mentioned at this time!) After having the car for a few days it was obvious a few items needed attending to! Tracker not working, Tyres well under 4mm, Annoying ‘tickety’ sound from engine, White powder from exhaust & few loose bits etc: Anyway, to cut along story short It was finally booked in on Monday the 10th June to have everything done. I paid for the Tracker to be fixed & the front tyres & they are paying for the rear tyres as they were less than 2mm, but they are telling me lot’s of the above are not under warrantee but they will have a word with the principal to see what can be done!
Is this your experience with your dealer?

ticking sound is a bit worrying, if it was a 355 I'd say the manifold(s) had failed, white powder would be a sign of the cats breaking up assuming they are the ceramic type, putting the two things together I'd question the manifolds, when they leak they burn the glassfibre surround which can produce white dust but I'd expect this around the joints from manifold to silencer.
Fwiw I'd expect all the items inc brakes, discs etc to last a reasonable amount of time before requiring replacement, Ferraris original 'approved' scheme was set at 3 Months. 3k miles IIRC

All the 360s tick -the noise is from the butterfly throttles and is normal. The white powder also normal ticking sound is a bit worrying, if it was a 355 I'd say the manifold(s) had failed, white powder would be a sign of the cats breaking up assuming they are the ceramic type, putting the two things together I'd question the manifolds, when they leak they burn the glassfibre surround which can produce white dust but I'd expect this around the joints from manifold to silencer.

Thanks for your comments guys,I’ve listened to other 360’s & they don’t sound like this! (sounds like a sewing machine) & the white powder is inside the engine bay so it’s leaking from some crack or split somewhere?

If you bought it in March then it should be perfect, everything thats wrong should be sorted - tyre tread under 2mm !!! It should never have gone out the door like that !
Tell me about it!I feel like they have been delaying looking at the car so they can say it’s too late to have it done under warrantee.
And I’m still waiting for a copy of the car report (to be sent first thing this morning!) perhaps they have lost it?

man if its from a main dealer you should demand better! i took mine back cos the front tyres we're cracking round the side wall....prob from lack of use till i got it....and the radio sometimes goes onto mute, i felt like it needed a full suspension set up and wheel allignment and a few other minor things.....all we're done/replaced and i got a new jag xj twin turbo diesel in the mean time. the service you've got is not acceptable...you didnt buy privately for a reason!
It’s getting worse! The person that is looking into the problems was away all yesterday, he’s been in a accounts review all today, he is off tomorrow, parts still need to be ordered, I still need to have new tyres fitted, no sign of the technical inspection report etc, etc, & I need to be leaving next Thursday evening for the run!
Great!
Colin.

It’s a main dealer.
I know why this sort of thing happens.
Before a car can be ‘an approved used car’ the service department check it out & make up a list of what needs doing. The service department then bill the sales department for the work. The sales department don’t like this. Eventually a compromise is made over just how much work gets done on the car.
Service department would like to rebuild the whole car, as it looks good for them.
Sales would be happy to do nothing to make more profit.
That system is bad news for the customer.
Still not seen the report that the service department did on my car yet. Latest excuse: Forgot to take laptop home!

And I’m being told now they can’t get the engine parts & fit them by Thursday.
I’m in shock.
Colin.
Yip Ferrari main dealer local to me (no longer used by me) takes for ever to look at the car then it takes even longer to get the parts. Hope for your sake the parts are at Ferrari UK as if comming from Italy dont expect the car back until after the August holiday I’m in shock.
Colin.
(this happened to me a few years ago car in for work June problem found parts ordered not in uk factory shuts August got car back mid September). When you go past this garage you see the same cars sitting around in various states of repair for weeks/months.Gassing Station | Supercar General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
