Ride in a 4.5!!

Hi Brummie - Interesting comparison really, you've got the classic yank V8, whilst the AJP is probably just how you described it. The flat plane crank means that is basically like 2 four cylinder engines bolted together. It's a 'revvy' race engine. I bet I would find driving around in your burbly V8 a bit strange too. Didn't you drive your car with the original Cerb engine in it?
Unfortunately for you, and despite the Cerb crushing power your car must have, you have lost something.
There are very few cars with the AJP8's engine characteristic which is pure single seater race car/bike like howl, and an engaging drive.
However the world is full of your engine type. Big yank engines are nowhere near as much fun to drive even though for sheer grunt they are faster. Which is why I havn't driven my Cobra in ages

Stratford Raceway has a RWYB on this Sunday, i'm going weather permiting, thats if i dont fall asleep at the wheel due to boring power delivery
hopefully some useful practice for FT.
I don't think that that's what Julian meant.
hopefully some useful practice for FT.I do agree with him though, part of the Cerbera's 'soul' is the AJP8.
The reliability and relatively cheap costs of a crated American lump make sense echonomically, but I must admit to loving the Cerb' because it as near to 100% British as you can get.

Sorry, re-reading I didn't mean that to sound quite so deroggatory.

I suppose what I meant was that driving your Cerb round a track will be about as far away from driving a Cerb as I am when driving my Cobra. I was kind of suggesting you have a long go in a Cerb, to find out the roots of your donor.
The thing you have lost is not interest in your car, in fact if my engine ever blows up and I have difficulty repairing it I will likely be doing the same as you. It would be interesting to have my Cobra engine in the Cerb.
The reason I don't use my Cobra is that its too good. My cobra has only four gears, and I only ever use two of them. Very light car 6L yank engine. Never go over 4K, never change down to overtake. Never heel and toe, never double declutch. If you do any of those things it doesn't make any difference to your speed, and to be honest the car doesn't sound like its enjoying it.
Look in my profile. Its my fathers car. If you want to make progress in that car you don't go under 4K, you do all the above things and if you do them badly the car hisses spits and generally gets upset or something breaks. You come away from a drive physically exhausted but with a much greater degree of driver engagement. It takes at least twice the time to get anywhere in that car compared to the cobra. But the cobra is missing something.
