There is a stone chip in the right front fog lamp of the 968 I'm getting. Just checked with type-911.co.uk and I'm told it's £154 for the complete unit. I can't just buy a lense.

So is it possible to source a lens from a breakers and how easy would it be to fit. i.e. is it a selaed unit? Also anyone know where I might be able to get hold of such an item?

I just had the same painful experience (for my wallet at least); I ended up buying from my local OPC. Basically everyone is round about the same price - 170 ish once you add the VAT and P&P, I spent a good hour or so calling every parts advert in 991 & Porsche World and GT Purely Porsche.

Apparently the unit wasn't always a sealed unit, but the only one you can buy now is the expensive sealed one. If it's any small consolation it was by far the easiest light I ever installed on a car

There is a small crack in mine which does not seem to have bothered the MOT tester,,,,this part is listed onlky for 968,,,as why didn't they fit 944 S2 or 928.
I will be suprised if Porsch -apart will sell just the lens.
cheapest i have found is £143 from Eurocarparts.
Unless it is smashed I wouldn't buy one unless you have to,,if we all have damage problems it sounds like a common 968 trait...also very 968 costs more than it should to fix!

One of mine was cracked too. Got it from www.porscheshop.co.uk, about £150 I think.

Echo CS's comments about 968 parts still being bloody expensive.

The 944 S2 fogs also cost a similar amount, which is why I have stuck thick clear helicopter tape over mine made by 3M to protect helicopter blades.

Available from www.tridentracing.co.uk for about 10 quid a metre if I remember. Means you don't have to tape up for trackdays too.
