Just another reminder - last year I got stopped between Le Mans and Arnage on Friday around 3pm, where half a dozen BiB were pulling every British car and inviting them to 'souffle' into the alcometer. Limit is 0.5 (UK is 0.8) and a fail means impounding car and fine up to 30,000 Euros. No payment means they can sell your car - so tend only to stop cars worth enough!
Tip - breathe out to normal end of expiration, then force out all remaining gas in your lungs, breathe in and repeat as many times as you can while pulling over and again whilst 'failing' a couple of times (due to language barrier) to blow for 10 secs continuously.

Agree, don't drink until you're parked up and walking, but beware the morning after. Nothing happens unless you have committed an offence. My reading was 0.0 so only gave the breathing advice in case someone happens to be unlucky

Thanks for the reminder, you know what it's like the morning after! Will bear this in mind. Cheers

Sorry, but the breathing advice does NOT work. You simply can't get around it - the length of time that you are required to blow into the device for means that you end up providing 'deep lung' air which, if you have drunk too much will incriminate you however many breaths you take immediately prior to providing your sample.

Could bore you with respiratory physiology and medical knowledge, but most people should be able to exhale slowly for 10 secs using normal breathing after a decent intake of breath, without using respiratory dead space (deep lung air). If you have previously got rid of as much dead space gas as possible it cannot do any harm to the process. I would not recommend it as a method to get away with drinking, but purely worth a try in case of emergency if potentially you could be near the borderline. Certainly not as safe as abstinence. There are other significant factors in the equation - weight, Body Mass Index etc.
