Black exhaust tailpipes
Discussion
Ever since i fitted the power tail pipes, the right tailpipe gets soot on it but the right one is always clean as a whistle. I just assumed that due to the pops n spits from the sports exhaust it was a bit of un burnt fuel landing on the pipe but then always wondered why only on the right tail pipe.
Can anyone advise please. Its ready for it's 6k service, i had the top end checked 5.5k ago and all was well no tappets needed adjusting either.
Would a bit too much oil in the engine cause the soot? as i also got an intrim oil change done when the pipes were fitted bout 1.5 k ago.
should i start to worry or could it be a lambda sensor?
many thanks

I`m not sure you will want to hear this, my old Tuscan had one sooty and one normal tail pipe, it could be a Lamdba sensor, is the car running ok and no dash codes? Is the car using much oil? This was the problem with mine, it eventually burnt a Ltr of oil every 200 miles, and went on a Blackpool holiday

It's been happening ever since i got the oil changed, i floored it in 1st and on the overrun it sucked a bit of oil out the top of the oil tank and through the engine. I backed off when i saw a big hump in the road. Lots of white smoke and me needing some new pants. Would a bit too much oil cause a sooty tailpipe? Car doesn't seem to burn any oil and is running well. A tad rough when v.cold (always done it) but really smooth when warm. I'm going to get it checked out when it goes for its service soon.
