RV8 manifold to exhaust port misalignment?
Discussion
I don't know if I purchased the wrong gaskets(RR 4.6) as they were a mill or two out so i scribed them to the port's.
Then I thought i'll mate the gaskets to the manifold's and to my suprise they were up to 2.5mm in some places covering the ports.
Couldn't believe they were so far out, those little things need every breath they can get,so out with the die grinder tonight and release 2hp..

How did you check this V8sag? I have thought about checking this myself with some engineers blue. And it's unfortunate that there's so much slop between the manifold flange bolt holes and the bolts.
Just take a look at the indentations (and discolouration) on either side of an old gasket, its quite suprising how far out they can be. I saw one that was out by up to 5mm in places on both the inlet and outlet ports. My heads were ported and gas flowed in the past and I'm sure its the reason my otherwise std engine makes such good numbers.

I have bugger all play in the manifold bolt holes,so it was just a matter of lining up the scribed gaskets and marking the manifolds.Gassing Station | General TVR Stuff & Gossip | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
