There is now a Sagaris in the classifieds at 30k! Granted, its been knocking around a bit and probably isn't the best example ever...but look at the price.

Touchwood (but with due sensitivity for current owners!) there will be some great examples at that price at the end of the year. For me, truly irresistable then!

The Prussian Blue at Dream Machines has been around for a fair while now too... Price dropping gradually there as well.

The TVR is a lot of car for the money when brand new. At 3/4 years old and almost half the price... its quite the bargain.

No it is not a bargain.

Look at the thread from the person who cannot find a rear window for his T350 anywhere.

Who wants to spend £30,000.00 on a car that might be off the road for several months whilst you wait for parts?

I didn't meant that particular car was a bargain.

My point was that no TVR is a bargain at the moment because the parts are so difficult to obtain.

Look at the other thread about the T350 rear screen. There the car has been off the road for 2 months because the owner cannot obtain a screen.

He has now resorted to looking in scrap-yards who do not have them either and may have hinted that there may be a queue of customers for them.

Who is going the buy any TVR at any price to have it off the road for several months at a time each time it needs a part.

Most people would not even want to be paid to have a car like that let alone pay to own one.

Are you saying that no parts are available, someone must have made glass for TVR, I doubt they manufactured there own.

I suppose it would mean some research, but find it hard to beleive its impossible, never mind resale prices what about acccident damage, any kind of accident could write these cars off, based on parts availability.

All seems a bit tragic

they are not going to make individual screens to order though..

Someone would need to pay for a batch to be produced, ie what car comapnies do... Probably some indy 'might' do it in the future... IF there is a profit in it...

Similarly other parts...
Hopefully, something the TVRCC might get involved in in the future, IF independent business' don't.

Hopefully!!

Surely this doesn't apply to the Griff or Chim?

Rubbish. There are hundreds of thousands of cars on the road for which parts are no longer officially available. Look at all the classics out there. People will keep buying them because they are great cars. Bang per buck that Sagaris is a bargain.

Actually on second thoughts, I’ve just realised, most parts on my Countach are NLA, I must give it away quick, any takers? I ‘ll even throw in a full tank of fuel to get rid of it quickly silly

And incidentally there are companies who do one-off manufacture of glass for cars, they normally to advertise in the back of classic car mags.

back to the original topic... i bought mine for 29,950. so i would like to claim the prize for cheapest sagaris ever. runs very well, had a few niggles but nothing out of the ordinary from what i have found out after my initial panic. they seem to be very mileage sensitive, which helped me as i was after one that was not used as garage furniture!

TSS: we're in absolute and complete agreement, you and I. These care are fantastic value for money. Furthermore, with a little effort I reckon you can get what you need most of the time.

I'll take your Countach off you by the way...you seem a nice chap and I'd like to show you the kindness of a stranger.

Rob T: I know the car you have ended up with, first Sagaris I ever had a ride in! Glad you're enjoying it. The red GT2 in your profile is very tasty though.

Sagaris prices at the moment seem to be all over the place to me. The dealer prices of circa £45k are just pie in the sky and the cars on the market privately around £35k hardly seem to be moving. I asked the question of a friend of mine who works for one of the prestige marques dealer groups about a Sagaris if, for example, it was to be offered as a trade in against a Porsche, Aston, etc. and he told me that an 05 car would be valued at no more than £25k!!! This has put me off the trail of a Sagaris a bit as I for one can't afford to gamble £35k on a car that if I needed out of would loose so much. I think £30k is a more realistic price for these cars but at the end of the day, a car is only worth what someone will pay for it!

Even before Christmas, 55 plate Sag's with lowish miles were passing hands in the trade for mid to late 20's. Obviously any TVR dealer will say that Sag's are the greatest buy at the moment.... until you want to sell one to them.

Mind you, when you have a car in stock for over a year, I suppose you have to buy it cheap to make it worthwhile.

Where will Sagaris prices end up?

Is it reasonable to assume they may continue down into the teens or lower in the next two to three years?

I suppose the average guy wanting a S/H sports car as a plaything will compare them with lesser Porsches, etc.

You can certainly argue that the Sagaris offers amazing performance to cost ratio. I mean here is a car that will stay with a Gallardo, GT2 or even an Enzo all of which cost £100k plus. HOWEVER, the off-putting factor (for me anyhow) is the uncertainty of the expenditure with the lack of warranty, parts availability and general market stability. It is quite feasible that a Sagaris could be bought for £30k today, thus appearing a good buy but if in a years time one's circumstances were to change and say a more practical car was required (by practical I mean a 911 !!) then the loss could be £10k plus. It will also depend on where TVR goes from here. If they vanish for good or start up production overseas and diss-own previous cars/warranties then it will be bleak, however, if they can pick up where they left off then it may prove to be a slightly less financially damaging ownership experience. My conclusion is that to buy a Sagaris for £30k (or more) today then you need to be able to afford to write-off £10k in 12 months.

£10k in 12 months? While I agree with almost all of the opinions aired thus far, this number seems (IMHO) a bit unrealistic?

My two pence is that at the end of the day a car is only worth what someone will pay for it. However, the Sagaris has a lot going for it. It is rare, has a definite fan following and is pound for pound, very good value. Surely the amount of people who would want one, tied in with how few they are would mean that the prices don't drop beyond a sensible level?

I would be suprised to see a circa £30k car lose £10k in the next 12 months (assuming it is in same condition with only avergae addition of miles). I wouldn't be suprised to see it lose about 5k though...

My thought is that a good Sagaris is unlikely to fall under the 25k mark? Perhaps the bulk of the depreciation is done.
