replacement key/fob

Hi all,

I need to replace a lost key on an 04 plate VW transporter before it goes back at the end of contract.
Main dealer typically wants silly money (over £100?!?) and wouldn't give me the part number over the phone.

There are plenty of blanks available on eBay, local locksmith with the right coding and cutting equipment - is there any way I can determine which part number/frequency version I need from chassis number or VRM?
