Anyone else attending ?

Weather forecast is Sh!te, but should be fun anyway.

Thinking of getting some wets put on to see what they are like as the Supercorsa's need changing & really don't want to be riding on semi-slicks all day if it p!ssing it down.

Afraid not...
Keep your eye on that weather mate, cause it seems to be unusually inaccurate of late. I've hardly seen any rain this week, but the forecasts were for it p!ss down loads.

Biker's Nemesis and T666 AKY are coming as well I think Mark. Plus there's a crowd of other gixer owners there today, this evening and tomorrow.

It's definitely pishing it down in Hull by the way! I've just collected my freshly serviced bike and am comprehensively all washed down, everyhere!

On a positive note, OMFG, how fit does my bike feel now? Admitted, it's the first service it's actually had in the last 7 years or so (other than oil, filters & plugs by me) and did add up to a stonking £550 yikes (yes, it did need quite a few things 'attending to'), so I can't complain of the overall running costs. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to test it properly in the dry tomorrow, but it looks like Magnum Racing in Hull have done a superb job.

Forecast does look rather odd, I've just checked metcheck for Grimsby, Horncastle and Louth and they're all very different, Louth being the lousiest!

Simon, paul and myself are going tomorrow, but are not sure whether we will be on track.

It was booked three weeks ago by Simon through www.biketrackdays.co.uk.

I received a phone call from Simon this morning, saying that there was a full refund on his bank statement from biketrackdays. He rang them and was told that they had sent him an e mail saying that they had used their allocation for Cadwell up, and claimed they had also tried too ring him. Needless to say there is no e mail or anything on his phone to confirm what they say.

To say I'm a little miffed would be the understatement of the year, day booked off work, etc etc.

Anyway, Simon rang Scoby17 then focused and explained the situation, and to their credit have said that we are first reserve. So Stub and hobo may have a couple of grid/gophers.

I'm sure looking at the weather there will be more than a few people who decide not to bother & therefore you'll get back on track.

Unfortunately I won't be lending the bike to StuB this time otherwise you'd have been more than welcome to our two places in the afternoon session hehe

Yea that's what we are hoping for (weather putting people off)

I think it's a good idea to give Stub a go on your bike again (just to see if it feels ok to him)hehe.

Not sure what T666aky will be like at 3.30am, as it's his Birthday to day and he's out on the beer. See you and Stub tomorow morning then Mark.

John.

Well, the weather was pretty good for a British Summer rolleyes, changing from 'Full Wets only' for the first two groups out in the morning (which prompted Hobo to get the credit card out, there's another story!) to a full on afternoon of pure hoonage (which prompted Hobo to get the credit card out again for some new slicks). Fortunately, the poor forecast put a lot of punters off, the the 3 lads who'd travelled from Tyneside managed to get a full days track action for their effort I'm pleased to say.

Session 1 was very damp, my Pirelli Corsa's slipping a little, the part worn wets on Mark's bike came back in sticky & steaming good & propper! Second session, a dry line started appearing around half of the track, but from the entry to the mountain to Coppice, remained damp/slippery, the wets coming in looking more than second hand at this point.

After lunch, it was definitely a dry track and speeds increased exponentially! Entry to the mountain was still wet, with my line apparently causing some interest to the following pack (it really didn't move once tipping in on the wet patch!).

I think we all had a good day, with the last session being lead off by Biker's Nemesis saying "I'll be taking it easy in this session guys" (never believe a word!) as he rocketted off, standie up to score a lot of 'poof points' (is that right guys) and a few 'interesting' moves by someone who shall remain nameless, who I'm sure can't appologise enough to Simon for that move at the bus stop! I was luck to witness it all and even managed to pass Hobo at the end, even on his slicks to take the chequered flag first in the last session of the day hehe

There was even talk that we should all try and get down (up for the poofy southerners wink) to Donnington for a PH'ers trackday at some point! Really looking forward to that one. I might have to invest in some more track oriented tyres and a couple of old electric blankets for that!

As everyone has said, excellent day. Good to have a tussle with between ourselves in the later sessions. And yes, Stu did manage to pip me in the last session (how about the others though hehe ).

I know I said it after, but again, apologies for the over eager attempt in the last session at mansfield? (if only you'd have seen what was going on behind you a few corners earlier. Never had the rear wheel so far up in the end. Think the marshall must have thought I was practising rolling stoppies).

Apart from the costs involved, was well impressed with both the wets & the slicks yes

Only downside was getting home to find cellar two foot deep of water frown

So then ............... whens Donnington ? Need more people yes

Oh, and I think it was around 10.30pm when the battery on the bike eventually went flat last night which stopped the f@ck!ng alarm going off furious

Wasn't sure how the day would turn out as it was raining heavily for the Three and a half hour drive to Cadwell. Once there we had to wait until every one had signed in, to see if there were going to be any places left, luckily for us Thirty One didn't turn up.

As it was wet and I didn't have any, Simon very kindly said that I could use his bike, which put me in the inters. The Focused Events organizer also said that I could move up a group if it dried up, so that I could use my own bike.

I did Two sessions on Simon's bike, which let me watch the others entering the mountain to hall bends, Hobo looked very smooth and fast (full wets) and like wise Stub, (road tyres)yikes and Simon, well, like any anyone who has had too much to drink the night before. hehe

Stub and Hobo parked next to us which was nice, as Stub was sharing his biscuits. Speaking of Stub, he had a great line at the bottom of the mountain, straight through a six foot square wet patch at full lean, first time he did it I braked hard as I was sure that he would come off.thumbup

Last session I pulled off half way through as I was A, completely knackered and B, had just pulled a stand up wheelie from the bottom of the mountain to hall bends, for Paul who was behind me. Thought I may get into trouble for that so pulled off.

Maximum "P" points for me then.

Another great day spent with like minded people. beer

Me on Simon's bike.

Me on mine.

Just to let Stub and Hobo know, Paul who came to the Track Day with us, has high sided at Criss curve in today's race, and been taken to Louth Hospital.

His mouth is still working, unlike his wrist and shoulder.
