Loose springs on coil over suspension please help!!!!

I have just fitted a set of coilovers to my car. The car is only ever used on the track so I have gone for a fairly hard budget set from Hottunning in Holland. They are ride height adjustable only.
Now although I havent had the chance to test my recent purchase propper due to the fact that the car is not road legal. I have found that by jacking the rear of the car until the tyre is clear of the grey stuff (this is with the height lowered by about 90mm) the spring becomes loose on the damper. By this I mean that the top and bottom cups extend apart when the damper opens beyond the space that the springs fill. Under normal road use I guess this would not bother me. However due to the fact that this car is only ever used on the track and the fact that it is a VW Golf GTI MkII from 1989 it does!.
The reason I say this is because that particular chassis has history for wheel lifting when cornering hard. Even on the original standard suspension it used to do it a lot.
So my question is!!!!??? What do I need to do to ensure that when I lift a wheel on the circuit and the spring tries to loosen I dont waste my money first time out by breaking anything!!!!
It may be that the helper spring provided is too short???? Can I change this? What will this do to the height adustability???? What sort of spring length and tension should I go for???
It may be that I use drop chains??? Dont know enough about them tho????
May be I need to raise the car height to reduce the space between the cups???
What ever it is I need to do it prior to the 1st July which is when I am due back on the track. If you have any ideas please help I'm, quite honestly, stumped!?????
