PH Roadshow Summer Events
Discussion
As you may know, Ian V, Gary (gtr-gaz) and myself share the organisation of various events at which Pistonheads (East Anglia) has a formal attendance. Now it's my turn to come out of hibernation!
There are three major car shows coming up over the summer at which we have space reserved. Regulars will know them well and you can find more details and photos from past years at www.phea.co.uk/Shows.htm.
Helmingham Hall: 5 August This has already been announced and has to be booked direct with the Hall. Hopefully you've already sent off your booking form. If not please mail me with your e-mail address and I'll send you one. Note to those booked - the Hall are sending out tickets nearer the event.
Rougham Air Display, 19 August
Rougham is just a mile to the east of Bury St Edmunds. It's an original grass WW2 airfield with control tower museum dedicated to the USAAF 8th Air Force. The display includes military vehicles and tanks, but best of all is a small but high quality airshow featuring WW2 planes such as Spitfire and P51 Mustang, the 'Utterly Butterly' team and other aerobatics. The relatively small size of the show means you can get right up to the front row for excellent views of the planes taking off and landing. The show is combined with British Sportscar Day, so there are hundreds of interesting cars of all ages to check out as well.
Lavenham Rare Breeds Motor Show, 27 August
One of our perennial favourites: over 500 cars this year plus country fair, crafts, dog racing, beer tent, hog roast etc. A nice 'country show' atmosphere, good for families. Entry free with suitable car.
In previous years we've had 10-20 cars representing PH at each show and I hope we can do this again. At Lavenham space is limited to just 15 cars so places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Note: These are public shows where visitors pay to see the attractions, of which we are one. Cars for the PH stand therefore need to be appropriate, eg TVR, Lotus, Marcos, Aston, Ferrari, Porsche, Corvette, Noble, Westfield, Caterham, Ultima and most classic cars. If unsure please mail me.

Hi what does that mean exactly? I know it would be off form to turn up in 'er indoors 1.2 clio however is our s2000 "appropriate" enough? I wouldn't want to book in and then get turned away at the doors

Ha, don't worry Ferg, it was only to give an idea. GTM Libra VVCs are fine in the 'interesting/unusual/sportscar' category

Well TBF it's hard to be sure - what we want to avoid is for the PH stand to look like a row of cars you'd see everyday. Of course this issue only occurs with Shows; on all other PH events every car is welcome without question. The best thing might be for me to check with the Show organiser/s and let them decide. If you can mail me with the shows you're interested in and I'll get back you.
