What are 6.0L VXRs like in poor weather conditions?

all big tyred cars are bad and the monaro is heavy so some enertia
but with a manuel gearbox and a torquey engine should be ok on snow and water as the higher gears can be used to be smother
During an evening of snow earlier this year I had to make a quick trip of less than a mile, within 200 yards the 'ro had been facing the way it came 3 times including one very near kerb-whacko (just stopped shy thank god), needless to say I didn't do the rest of the run and took it straight back to the garage, threw on some boots and did the trip on foot instead but with a manuel gearbox and a torquey engine should be ok on snow and water as the higher gears can be used to be smother

But if you mean the more realistic rain (as we don't really get that much snow - and when we do the whole country grinds to a halt anyway so one more doesn't matter...) then the Monaro is sure footed when you want it to be, and great sideways fun when you want it to be that....
Like everything - it drives like you make it....

I took a Vxr 6.0L for a weekend away to cornwall. On the way down the radio mentioned the possibility of sleet once passed bristol.
Got to Bristol at 8:00am. Arrived Truro 8:00pm.
Over Bodmin they had a sudden and massive snowfall. People had gone into supermarkets and come out to find themselves trapped. Loads stayed overnight in hostels etc etc....
We slithered our way thru it and the car was surprisingly good. The simple TC was better than the Merc systems (loads left abandoned at the bottom of inclines) and being able to let the rears spin without intervention allowed decent control.
Even the missus was suprised as the engine just idled along and we ambled down thru 4 to 5 inches of snow.
Got stuck once on an incline but everyone was , and many willing hands pushed 'that bloody australian car off top gear' to get going again.
I'd be quite happy in one again. Mind you it helped that if I did stuff it I've the budget to put it right
))
All in all better that you'd think.

I couldn't get out of my road when it snowed. I've got Eagle F1s all-round and I don't think they help as there are no continuous grooves. I could just about get traction if I let the clutch out really really slowly with no throttle.
The fiance's 155-tyred Getz however it pretty handy in the snow.
In the rain it's fine, you just have to avoid being a silly bugger. Eagle F1s work really well in the wet!
