Crash Bungs...£54 (R+G)
Akrapovic Can...£338 (V.V Nice)
Black Gilles Rearsets...£325
Black stand bobbins...£25 (R+G)
Black levers..No good stuff available yet in Black
Braided Hoses...£200 all in Front and Rear.
Power Commander...£285
Meta Alarm...£225 (Cheaper than the last one !!)
Double Screen(Smoked)£40

I phoned a dealer to ask him about it. He really couldn't be bothered. I asked about the o% and the insurenace and if there were any deals to be had.
No
No
and No.

So that was the end of that!!

Have you tried an R1? I think you should try one as that is what your heart wants and if you buy the R6 without trying an R1 you'll spend the whole time thinking the R6 is a "second choice". If, having tried one, you find an R1 is way more bike than you'll need then you'll be able to buy the R6 knowing it was the right choice.

You're talking about spending a lot of money - make sure you buy the right bike for the right reasons.

It would be a 675 for me, had the chance to ride one at the weekend and the new R6 the weekend before, as a ROAD bike the 675 leaves the R6 waaay behind.

Why rearsets? do you need them? have you tried the standard ones?

200 for hoses seems a bit steep to if its supply only.

Its your choice and your money though smile

I haven't no. I do think though that the R6 is enough for the road, and I probably ride it to 50% on the track...so why do I want more? To be honest, my biggest fear is riding too fast on the road. I'm already doing this, and fear I'd push it too much with a more capable bike.

I love the look of the R1, andit's every boys dream to have a lite bike....but self preservation seems to have kicked in!

Find a different dealer, then! It doesn't make the bike any worse! Plum :P

Apart from the commute, I intend to do as many track days as I possibly can, so the R6 would be good for this
I just like the look of black rearsets on a black bike, purely cosmetic!
Agree aboutthe hoses though....Seen them for £70 on ebay!!

I just bought an R1 from Tamworth yamaha and on top of a good trade in price they gave me at least 10% off all the extras and fitted them all for free. They know their stuff too.

Cheers

So why don't you buy something like a sports 400 or an Aprilia 250?

Once you decide that you will have a bike that is ‘more capable’ than you are then it almost becomes irrelevant how much more capable than you the bike is.

I am not trying to persuade you to buy an R1. (I don’t have an R1/Blade/GSXR1000 because they are way more bike than I could ever use and, being a Scotsman, I don’t want to waste too much money on capability I will never use.) I only want you to be sure that you are making the right decision in getting an R6.

Make sure they give you all the OEM bits too for when you sell it on...

£200 for braided lines is silly money.

re R1 - test ride one, make an informed decision. You may find you ride it slower as you don't have to rev it's nuts off to get everywhere. Also, unless you ride on straight roads constantly, you won't necessarily ride any faster on an R1 - a friend of mine rides a ZX6R and round the bends we're pretty even and in fact sometimes he fires out of them quicker as he can just wind the power to the stop without fear of reprisals. Up to a point, the main ingredient for fast riding is the rider.

Try the R1 - THEN make the decision. Similarly the Gixxer. Ride 'em all before you buy, you'd be daft not to.

Funny - I was just about to email you Mad Dave and say I thought £200 was a bit much.
On the R1 subject - I've always wanted an R1, fell in love with it years ago. I have an R6 now and I don't see it as second best, just another rung on the ladder if you like. I couldn't cope with an R1 just yet, I'd be dead. When I can cope with the R6 and get it to it's full potential I'll then seriously consider buying an R1. That time isn't soon though and I have no intention of rushing myself.....
