I'm seriously looking at buying into a ferrari.
What is the best bet with a budget of upto 80K?scratchchin
I'm into two seaters so I'm thinking 355 360 though the 360 is a bit big and ugly for my taste,
I would consider a low mileage older model.
any help / opinions would be greatfully recieved.

You could be very picky on either the 355 or a 360 for £80k, or a 550. You'd get a nice 575 too if you shopped around. Which one to go for is personal preference - you need to consider how often will you use it (daily driver?), how long will you keep it etc

Its a very broad question with a lot of potential answers.

Best of luck.

Good point,
This car will be for driving.
Polishing and posing are definitely NOT high on my list of priorities; I will be expecting to do anything between 6 and 10 K per year.
I have a Noble which is a definate keeper so depending how the car drives will bias the mileage either way to each car.
I suppose I'm really looking for something a little less focussed than the Noble for the odd cross Europe trip. (I do travel light however).
So given that mileage, any more ideas, I doubt I will keep it more than 18 months as I tend to change vehicles in that time period.

550, with handling pack

don't fall for the 575, inferior car for more money

550 over 575 can you expand on this a little?
Thanks

I believe it's the other way round (ie 575 with handling pack) and don't actually believe that a 575 so equipped is an "inferior car" to a 550.

OP should try a few of all examples mentioned. My money would be on the 355 pressing the right buttons the most. though make sure it has a Tubi or Capristo. 80k will buy you the best 355 and allow you to run it for quite some time to come.

Or what about something a bit brutal and more GT like a 512TR? Would likely give a greater contrast with the Noble.

Also, check out clubscuderia.co.uk

80k to spend on a Ferrari. Hmmmmm... simple decision.

2 x 355s. One Rosso/Crema, with Tubi and Decat and the other.... Rosso/Crema with Tubi and Decat.

HTH. Problem solved smile

Is the 512TR better than the 512M?
I quite like the Testa Rossa "style" cars maybe the way to go if I can find a good low mileage example.

Hi F.C.
was invited to a track day yesterday at donnington and drove a testarossa and a the 512M. The testarossa has had the brakes upgraded as I am told they were woeful. The 512M is definately the one to go for. Beautiful car, handled well for a stock car and sounds awesome. Much quicker but boiled the brake fluid after 20 minutes. Easily solved.

The 512M could be quicker than Schumacher's championship winning cars and I wouldn't be ineterested in the ugly mofo. It has a face like a slapped arse, the arse looks like it has piles and the wheels look like Mr Whippy got to them.

The 512TR is, IMNSHO, the best looking of the modern "TRs". Look great in red, but have also seen awesome looking black ones and a wicked gunmetal one.

Lot of car for the money. Chap on clubscuderia had one for sale recently (not sure if it sold - http://www.clubscuderia.co.uk/forum/showthread.php...

Opens up a lot of options at £80k but I think I would have to thoroughly drive the following and mak my choice -

550M - manual in TDF with tan with Handling pack
512TR - can't get my head around the looks of the 512M
355 Spider - manual in TDF with tan
360 - manual in Tiatanium with black

or maybe go down the classic route of an early 246GT just like the one in Evo magazine. cloud9
