So Kubica is out and Sebastian Vettel is in. Interesting. A big pity for Kubica because he is very good and developing fast. But it will be interesting to see what Vettel can do in a competetive car.
The circuit, with that twiddly infield, is not going to suit the dancing donkey and it's long wheelbase.
You can overtake here on the wide "proper" bit of the circuit. Aero will be critical. It will be a good test of who has the best wind tunnel.
It has rained in the past here. It would be great to see what the pecking order is in a wet race these days, now MS has gone.

Vettel looked quick in practice for his debut, another fresh entry to look at for future achievements?
Kimi is not physically fit enough to drive well, he is lazy. Massa is working hard but the aero setup is off at the moment and they cannot get enough traction down soon enough out of a corner. BMW have a well balanced car that works on both tyre compounds and there may be a surprise or two this weekend as well.

lewis is on a roll, he seems to be able to do everything else that's asked of him, and he is showing similar form to his previous campaigns in gp2 and f3, that is the first few races to win, and dominant mid season,, a slight slump followed by a return to form.
i'd put money on LH winning up until germany.
For Canada LH had been working hard at the McLaren simulator because he had never driven it before.
For USA he has zero simulator time, he has just driven it in computer games. He had never driven there for real.
This is a strange circuit with banking, a wide and fast bit and a slow and twiddly bit. It will favour those with previous.

I thought Lewis said he did about 5 laps in the simulator for Canada? Anyway, however realistic a simulator, I can't see it being much of a substitute for actually driving the circuit because you'd never get the same feel of the car, the only thing its going to help with is learning where the track goes and roughly what speed they are taken at.
FP2 times now up BTW, Alonso still quickest with Lewis 0.15 behind folowed by the Ferraris and Heidfeld, although Alonso was slower in FP2 than FP1, whereas Lewis improved a bit. What is a bit odd though is the Mclarens are very slow through the speed traps which would indicate they are running more wing to blitz the twisty bit, but being nearly 10kmh slower than the BMWs has to be a concern Id think.

As I said at the beginning this will be a big aero test.
