Clio Radio Codes

Slightly odd one this; I had to disconnect the battery on my 52 plate Clio today and obviously now need to put the code in to get the radio working again. I know the code but can't for the life of me work out how to enter it, when I turn the radio on the display shows '0000', I've tried using the buttons on the radio and the remote control behind the steering wheel but have had no success, can anyone point out what I'm doing wrong?

If I remember right you need to use the scroll on the remote stalk to move up and down and select the number then the top button on the remote stalk(the one for switching between radio and cd)which will move it onto the next number.
Once you have the code you want showing you need to hold the button on the bottom of the stalk.

First 0 should be flashing, use scroll wheel on satellite to change number then press bottom button, next 0 flashes. Repeat etc then press and hold bottom button.
