Any way to change clutch biting point?

Hi all,

Wife has a 306GTi where the clutch bites really low down. Combine this with an odd 'protrusion' from the bulkhead and a notchy 'box when warm, and it can get quite frustrating.

Not a lot I can do about the bulkhead (not without an angle-grinder! ), nor about the notchiness. But I was wondering if the height the clutch bites at is at all adjustable...I figure it's a cable-operated clutch, is there anything in the mechanism that can be changed?

Under the bonnet, on the right hand side the cable attaches to the gearbox on the top of it, 2 nuts (10+13mm) to adjust the cable, sounds like it needs to be tightened in a little bit.
