Looks like my front will have to be replaced as I have Made in France on it and DOT 6UCW 980T.
Only thing is I've done about 4,500 miles on the 2CT's currently fitted..If the front is exchanged for a new one then i'm going to have to replace the rear as there will inevitably be a slight in balance with the two tyres i.e. a new front and a rear that's done 4,500 miles....I'll see what Michelin say about this little problem on Monday morning when the line opens up
as I don't really want to pay out for a new rear as it's fine at the moment.
what do you guys think about using a new front with a rear that's done 4,500 miles ???

Wouldn't think it's a huge problem if your rear tyre's still good. I regularly fit a new rear to a part worn front (wear ratio around 2 - 3 rears per front) but have never done the other way round as my rear tyres never last long enough. At 4,500 miles my rear would be finished anyway.
But give it a try see if you can a free rear .......

im quite amazed you got 4500 miles out of a rear 2CT to start with Only thing is I've done about 4,500 miles on the 2CT's currently fitted..If the front is exchanged for a new one then i'm going to have to replace the rear as there will inevitably be a slight in balance with the two tyres i.e. a new front and a rear that's done 4,500 miles....I'll see what Michelin say about this little problem on Monday morning when the line opens up

, i only managed about 2000 on mine, maybe the R1 is more sparing on tires
Ooh, I hope my rear needs recalling - it's done over a thousand miles so there's not much life left in it; a shiney new rear FOC would be a real bonus
EDIT: Just reread the article and it's only the front tyres. Doh. I'll check it anyway - I think that one's pretty worn anyway

Update chaps.
The tyres being recalled have to fall within a certain manufacturing time period the dates are here:
Pilot Power: week numbers 2704 to 0406 inclusive
Pilot Power 2CT: week numbers 4505 to 1807 inclusive
This is now on the Michelin Website http://www.michelin.co.uk/uk/front/act_affich.jsp?...
These numbers are after the DOT number.
Just checked mine again and it was manufactured in week 4406.

Just spoke to Michelin and my tyre is one of the affected ones. Contacted the tyre dealer who hadn't heard about it but is chasing it up for me this afternoon. I'll let you know what comes of it but the Michelin guy said to get the dealer to contact them to verify that any stock he does have is ok and so on.
I'll let you know what happens.
Regards,
Mark

Yeah, my front is DOT 6UCW 980T, and week no 20??.
The week number is a four digit number immediately after the dot code. If it's 2007 then that would suggest that it's after the cut off week, if it's 2006 then it would suggest that it needs replacing. However this assumes that 2007 means week 20 in year 2007 but the system may be something entirely different so call them.Chilli said:
Guess this means a new front then. What about my track day tomorrow.... Will it be ok for this??
Phone michelin and ask them. The number on the website takes you to their technical helpline and I found them very helpful. I imagine the answer will be 'no' because if it was anything else then they wouldn't bother recalling it. Give them a call now and you may be lucky to find a dealer with a newer tyre that they can fit today.Edited by dern on Monday 18th June 15:22
