Race car liveries(and bikes)

while I am watching the Le Mans race on tv i have got thinking about racing liveries, Gulf are back, and I have just seen a Red Bull Ferrari, these liveries seem to work on ANYTHING that they get applied to, where some liveries just dont seem to work.

Can anyone else think of others that do work, and ones that just DONT. Feel free to post pics.

Another one that works is Martini. Everything from F1(Lotus and Brabham), rally cars(Lancia and Ford), DTM(Alfas) and prototypes/GTs(Porsche and Lancia)

Rothmans always did fantastic schemes from the rally Escorts and Manta's through to the sportcar Porsche and F1 Williams.

I love the Rothmans colours..very classy but rarely seen now...
The WSPC Porsche 962 Race transporters were gorgeous too..

I also quite like the old Marlboro brilliant red & white...although at the time they were being used I didn`t much fancy it.

The yellow & black of the Newman Porsche 962`s were lovely too....

I can oblige with an Escort & Manta...can't do the F1 cars though

Finally (for now) the John Player Special livery. Most famous on Lotus F1 cars but it also appeared on Norton Bikes and a Ford Capri Special Edition

McLaren solid ('papaya') orange:

- '60's F1 cars,
- Can Am,
- '72 Indianapolis winner
- '06 interim F1 car

plus LM road car.


The Penske dark blue with yellow pinstripes and numbers was stunning, used on everything from T70 and 512M to McLaren M19 to Camaro TransAm cars.


Let's also not forget the plain, pure white-with-black-details Chaparrals.


Rob Walker's dark blue cars with the white stripe weren't too shabby either.

I am a die-hard Porker fan, and I will never forget the car that gave every model after it that nickname: the 917/20, complete with German writing detailing the various cuts of meat it could produce, and forever etched into the memories of Kauhsen and Joest, no doubt.

And let's not forget the FINA livries adorning 1990s BMWs; simple, but effective.

Two more: The Jolly Club/ToTip 037s and F40 GTEs, and the Alitalia Stratos/Abarth 131
