hi can any one help? I have an a4 1.8t 1995 which runs and drives fine but some times when I try and start the car the car starts and the cuts out again,it can do this a couple of times and then it is ok. Also it dose not do it every time. Also when you drive the car and put the cluch in the revs come down very slowly. please help cheers andy

try using the spare key!
It sounds like a intermitent fault on the chip in the key!

It your reader coil.
It is failing to read the key when you start the engine.
You need to replace the ignition lock as the reader coil only comes with the ignition lock set. Speak to your dealer and get one cut to you reg. number, so can use the same key. Otherwise you will have to have the new key coded to the car.
