Booked for my first track day in the Viper at Snetterton on the 24th June. Imagine it will be a lot different from my MR2 Turbo on the track, so will be fun learning again. Anyone want to join me? See BookaTrack if you are interested, but only 4 places left now and going fast.

BAT don't quote a noise limit. Was there in the (very noisy) Radical for a TVRCC day with no problems. See you on the 24th!

It's sold out, shame I wonder if I could have passed that 108 noise limit!

It is, but I've heard one of the participants recently totalled their car so may not be able to attend. Look out for places 'for sale'

Well, the first track day in the Viper was excellent. Handling was better than expected, although I was taking it a bit easy on the brakes to prevent any problems. Great fun and all the passengers enjoyed the ride.

Wow, a Viper at Snetterton. Blimey, you must have been soooo fast. I'll bet the only things that could possibly have been quicker were track biased cars such as Caterhams and Radicals, right? Surely nothing else could get past...

The was some Japanese Turbo nutter barge that just managed to get past - must have been tuned to within an inch of its life...

By nutter barge, do you mean smaller than a Viper?

Define 'just get past'

Tuned within an inch of it's life. Is that like, bog standard UK spec?

Ah... but just how many video cameras were filming the Turbo nutter barge (losing ground) going past the pit wall compared to filming the Viper?

Shame you're not there on the 5th of August, I'll give you something to video

Yeah, the back end of another car going past...

Come on - where's the competition - just how much power do you need?

Power is nothing without control Sicarrie.

Will happily take my little 1300cc race Locost if you wanna compare lap times?

All that power means surprisingly little if you can't use it (the car I mean, as much as the driver). Though it definitely makes it annoying for the cars quicker through the corners not being able to get past on the straights!

I was thinking about Aug 5th too - Stig you definitely going then?

Stig,

Don't rise to it - I'm just winding up Viper_Larry because he's my brother.

In fairness, it was the first track day out in the Viper and I think he needs to get used to it a lot more - it's a lot of car! Also, he was very gracious at letting faster cars past - inc me in my girlfriend's Scooby (which is not a nutter barge, it is a normal UK car) - which she didn't know I had 'borrowed', and being a passenger in the Viper at the time, got quite a surprise!

However, it is my brotherly duty to continue to wind him about it, ad nauseum.

Oh, btw, 1:22's the other weekend in my 1.6 Caterham Supergrad 133bhp, 5 speed, no LSD, Avon CR500 tyres. Sadly, I came second by 6/100ths /second.

Si.
