The alarm has gone into "Panic mode" and my P & J won't start :-(

The manual isn't very clear about how to reset the alarm so can any one explain to me how to get it sorted.

Thx in advance.

Shirky.

Keep the button on the fob pressed for about 16 seconds.

You'll see the alarm go through all of the flashing of lights lock unlock etc.

When it gives 4 flashes at around the 16 second mark (most do, though could be 3) then this means the car has reached normal locking mode - take finger off button. Nothing should then trigger the alarm if all is well.

Unlock as normal.

Marcus,

Thanks for the advice but no luck so far. The alarm siren kicks in before I can reach 16s with my finger on the key fob and still no joy.

Tried disconnecting the battery for 30s to see if that worked but as soon as I reconnect the battery, the alarm starts again :-(

Another other suggestions ?

Thx in advance,

Paul.

calm down - don't panic.

keep your finger on the button until it starts - it will start, some people have kept it pressed for 5 mins before it jumps into life - my record is about three, but usually quicker.

Now I know this sounds strange, but whilst you have the button pressed down try flashing the headlights, if that doesn't work try turning on the heater fan then off, then the cooling fan, windows etc

It never seems to have an order but for some reason only known to Peter Wheeler it helps - don't foegt to keep your finger on the button.

It will start.

Mine has gone into panic mode before. Press the fob to shut the siren up but then every time a door is opened, the hazards start flashing. I disconnect the battery, reconnect after 30sec, alarm goes off (sometimes), press fob - no more siren, press black ignition button in car, start car. All okay.

You'll have to describe the problem in a bit more detail.

start from the beginning (give us an idiots step by step) and we'll take it from there - symproms, order, etc.

The alarm has a safe mode to protect itself, which is triggered when it receives a voltage spike, for instance someone trying to jump the car. To clear this you do need to disconnect the battery for 30 seconds and then reconnect it. My alarm goes off most of the time when I reconnect the battery, I've found that I can't clear it unless there's a good connection on the battery live, so when you do this, make sure you've pushed the clamp home on the terminal, not just touched it on there. Once that's done, press the fob button until the siren stops sounding. It should only take a few seconds with the button held down. The alarm should then be working normally. Keep the fob handy for when you're tightening up the clamp, in case you upset the alarm again and the siren starts. Once the battery clamp is done up, test you can set and clear the alarm as normal. If this fails, you have a different problem and you should call this number - 0772 072 3407 - that's Carl Baker's number and he's the man for TVR Alarms.

Steve.
