ill be going not sure whether the porsche will be there or not.

Does anybody know the dates, as we are on a cruise next June from the 14th but would love to be able to treat the other half to a trip to le mans.

They said audi might change engines again, anyone know more about this?

???? LMP2 has no diesels in it...1st and 2nd place (ok the only LMP2 cars to finish) both had Zytek engines. Only LMP1 has the diesels.
Besides Porsche wont let the car do 24hrs till they believe it can do it. The ALMS races it wins are only a few hours so they'll have to do some proper testing for it to go. Besides Porsche have won GT2 so often why bother?

What you think Porsche want to run the spyders to win LMP2?

They want to run the to win outright as they do in ALMS, but they cant win if the ACO keep favouring the diesels (which they are likely to as long as a French team is running them)

Erm, if the ACO have anything to do with it the LMP2 cars will NEVER have an outright win. They are only slightly faster in a straight line than a GT1, but with better corner speeds. If you think Porsche read the fact they win ALMS rounds as they can beat an R10 at Le Mans then I'd eat my hat. I know for a fact that the guys at IMSA have previously changed the restrictor sizes to level the playing field and make for interesting racing. Soon as a Spyder wins in europe then mayb I'll change my view.

So as I said until there is a level playing field Porsche wont run, there would be no pint in running to win LMP2 as a factory team, when the other manufacturers are in LMP1

Highly unlikely - Porsche North America comissioned the car and pay the majority of the bills.

A factory team is pretty much a non starter but a privateer entry 'could' be possible.

There never will be a level playing field. The ACO see it as the first cars over the line will be LMP1, then 2, then GT1 etc. Porsche obviously has an interest in P2 otherwise they wouldnt have bothered and just built a P1 car! Its only engine and tyre sizes mainly that differ from them both. Lola's sportscar can be changed from P2 to P1, so I'd hazard a guess so can the porsche.

Might be nice to see a competitive LMP2 car though, they were generally a bit embarrasing this year and very unreliable.

Strange really, theyve only got smaller engines and tyres... Maybe its because the owners are mostly privateers and dont have the bigger budgets. Though I know from experience P1 cars can be just as much trouble, its whether or not you get the run of luck on the day.
