What is it with Bernie censoring all private footage of F1? Had my dad round yesterday and he hadn't seen Kubica's accident. Good old youtube I thought, how I was wrong. All footage of his accident had been removed apart from the Original TV pictures.
Why is this? I pay for my ticket, I take my camcorder/camera, see an incident that might interest people and upload footage onto a video/photo sharing site. I'm not ripping off copyright as it's my own footage and i'm not showing something that hasn't allready been shown (allbeit perhaps from a different angle)!
What next, censoring of private photographs taken at a F1 event?

The terms and conditions of most race tickets state that you can only take footage/pics for private use, so Bernie is within his rights to request that the videos be removed.
However... I think it's pretty pointless for them to do so as the footage is out there now and they can do little to prevent its distribution. Besides, it's one of the most exciting incidents to be seen in the sport for ages and is only likely to encourage people to watch F1, so in my mind it'd be better if as many people could see it as possible!

Fair point.But there are plenty sets of great pictures on the photo&video forum here, could we be looking at those being censored as well?

Again a fair point, my dad hadn't watched a GP for a while, too boring was his reason. I explained that some of the camera angles of the accident really showed just how fast the car was travelling and that seeing them perhaps he could appreciate the racing a bit more. In many cases, technically yes I think though whether it would ever happen I don't know. I can see why organisers do it to protect the rights holders and bona fide media, but it sure puts some constraints on the average fan!!zetec said:

YouTube is a commercial venture and makes money from carrying ads, therefore Uncle Bernard's view will probably be that they are making money off his "efforts"..Private photo-sharing sites generally don't carry ads, so there's the difference
