So where were all the police speed traps??
Discussion
Drove down on Thursday morning using A16 to Rouen then dropped onto the N138 to Alencon, then A28 to Le Mans. I didn't see a single speed trap, in fact I don't think I saw a single policeman. Left the circuit yesterday morning about 10.00 using A28 all the way to Rouen, then a mixture of autoroute and D roads to Calais. Again I didn't encounter one speed trap. Rather irritating really considering I'd taken it relatively easy. Got to Calais and felt like turning round and doing the whole road again!! I regularly encounter no speed traps on the way back from Le Mans, something I attribute to the fact that I leave early on Sunday morning, but I've never driven down there and seen none. Was there some speed amnesty going on or does le plod francais think we've all learned our lesson about speeding in France?

Had to leave very early on Sunday morning to get back - no problems at all (and weather was good) until about 60 miles out of Calais. Got stopped at 154kmh at about 9.30am but after having all my documents checked was let off with just a verbal warning to slow down.
Top weekend, see you all next year.

They were definitely there, thought I (and the 5 others in our convoy) had been done on the way down about 15 miles ouside of Bolougne, but nothing

I was caught on friday as i drove down to Le Mans. But it was late in the afternoon and i had got away with it all day,and i thought that i was well and truly shafted as the bike cops led the way to a side road parking space
. I mean i was really really tramming past the bikes as they were coming of the slip road...SH!T!!!! i thought.
I was very very happy when they said that i was only clocked at a speed that earned me an 80 Euro fine, YAY!!!!! i thought
The dude in front of me in the side rode parking was banned and fined 750 Euro i believe.
Then about 5 Police were taking pictures of my spider
and were sitting in it also
Mine was there first ferrari of the day.
Any ways i felt very lucky as i tore of like a b4stard to big smiles of the policeLOL!!!
, go figure.

Met two people this weekend who had lost their driving licences on the way down last week, both at about 120mph on the motorway. The result is that they have to apply to the French Embassy in a few months to get them back. They were, as you can imagine, sick as parrots.
Is that so bad?Presumably you can drive back in the UK? Or come home and ring up the DVLA...
"Hi, I lost my license while on Holiday in France, can I have a new one please"
or am I missing something?

Yep
lucky day for me on Friday
So yep i limited my driving yesterday to sight seeing and granny shifting. I left at 12pm and drove up the cost and along it until i joined the motorway at the end of the run. It was far to tempting to play on the motorway
And besides i would not have been so hard for the police to find and target in on. Imagin the chat on there police radio..."yea some black dude in a convertable ferrari"...LOL!!!
I arrived at the train about 8pm. Dude what car was ya in, i had a few wave? Was it you i the red 360????

Am I missing something here?
Hmm, let's go to a foriegn country to a motorsport event, attended by thousands with some exotic machinery, and drive like I own the place with no regard to the speed limits, what a great idea. I don't suppose we would like it much if a bunch of beer/wine swilling (insert offensive racist name here) came over here and did the same in the UK. Someone with the meanest intellect should be able to tell speeding on the way to LeMans is a mugs game.

I saw a number of police cars hidden off the A38 between Le Mans and Rouen yesterday afternoon. However as I left after the race and it was pissing down with rain all day I assume they sat in their cars thinking that we'll catch anyone that takes the piss after they have hit the barrier!
Despite the fact I came up the motorway at between 60mph and 80mph I was only overtaken by a couple of cars. Possibly one of the few advantages of a diesel Hyundai 4x4 in that I was high enough to see over the spray! Passed a number of Tvrs, Lotus, Caterham (poor souls!).
Incidentially as I came on to the Le Mans inner ring road, there was one of those flyovers, with the police sheltering inder in. I stopped at the red light and waited. On the ring road itself some Frenchie saw the police so stopped as soon as the lights went red. Only to be hit up the arse by a french Metr, who had presumably decided to go through. Result was one policeman coming out from his sheler clapping in a very sarcastic way!
