Jumped in my car yesterday, twisted the key....and the car started fine but both windows dropped and raised - just like when you open the door to get in/out.

Anyone else had this ?

I have the problem where the window doesn't drop when you open the door, its a bit intermittent, you know when its not going to work as the horn sounds when you unlock the car. I have had it where the window goes up and down a few times, when opening the door from the inside, so sounds like it could be a similar problem to yours.
Im sure a specialist will know exactly what it is , as i think its quite a common problem, i just need to find somewhere to take it, as i don't want to take it to an opc, for anything other than servicing.

Sounds like the symptoms I had when my battery failed recently. You might have a low charge or failing cell - might be worth getting the battery checked before you have to get up in the middle of the night to shut the bloody alarm off like I did! rolleyes

Well today started the car, struggled to turn over, fired eventually, windows did the same thing & the alarm went off !
So guess it is the battery, even though I had a new one (porsche supplied) fitted less than 2 years ago - should it be covered under the battery warranty ?

Just found out its 2 years, so I am over by about 6 weeks, Porsche wont give me any grace. Ho hum.

Are there any other batteries that I can fit to the 996 Turbo other than the Porsche one. I also need to fit it tomorrow so need to go buy it from a Halfords or suchlike.

Cheers.

Phone Euro Car Parts they might have a Bosch that will fit.
