I,ve got rusty pipes, have you?
Discussion
While grovelling around near the battery I found damp carpet on the side of the footwell under the heater control valve. Both the steel pipes are rusty on the outside, would this be battery fumes? There doesnt seem to be a breather tube for battery, did all Griffiths have this? mine is a 94 500 pre serp. Anyone else had these pipes rust? John.
John, my car was built around the same time and, yes, it does have a breather pipe. Carefully grope around the tunnel side and you should find it (if there's one fitted). It enters the footwell near the top.
Every battery I've fitted has the breather outlet on the near side and this clear plastic pipe is long enough to stretch across the unit to plug in.
