I'm having my windscreen replaced by Autoglass soon, I've quized them and they are confident they can do a good job (Southampton branch, say they've done several over the last year), they quoted 4 hours in their shop (can't come to my work to do it). They told me they will replace the bottom part of the gasket but not the top (they can't get it). My top gasket is split in a couple places, anyone know where I can get one? I may bring it along and ask them to replace it for me.

I tried Clever Trevor but can't see it on their website, I know I've seen one on some website, and help would be much appriciated

It's not the original shaped and mopulded top rubber that they have. It's a straight strip that they sell be the metre (£12.00 per metre + VAT & delivery). They say you need 3 metres and that it has to be heated and shaped by whichever windscreen company is fitting it.

In the absence of the original shaped piece (which once was available from Clever Trevor) this is probably the best you'll find. My concerns would be 1) your windscreen fitter should know BEFORE he starts the job that this is NOT a custom made part to fit but just a straight piece of rubber, and, 2) that he is confident of getting it to follow the top 'corners' of the windscreen without kinking and rippling on the inside of the sharp bend. Hope this helps.
Nick.

OK, It's done now and I'm not happy, I'm not unhappy with the guys at AutoGlass they were very good, we decided together that the original rubbers were fine (not split as I thought and it fine condition). It looked fine when I picked it up but the problem is that the two upper corners are not far enough onto the windscreen making fitting the top too hard. Also I've noticed the widscreen it slightly crooked, i.e. the black border is higher on the left than the right.

The crooked part is only slight so I'm not that worried (I'm so bloody picky, it is just me or are all TVR owners picky?), but I will take it back.

All else fails and I'll have to take it to a dealer and have to pay to put it right. Interestingly the winscreen I saw on one of the websites was £499, the bill (to my insurance - £75) from Autoglass was only £285, it looks the part...
