Dear PH's,

I feel like I have now done my bit for the community.

As I was driving through Mychett near Farnbourough today I came across a scamera van parked on a pavement.

So I whipped out my trusty Sharp GX10, pulled over, got out the car and started taking photos of it (photos will be available for view shortly!).

After doing this I then stood near the van and phoned up surrey police to report the van (very loudly) is illegally parked. I informed them that I had photos and that I would be persuing the matter MUCH further.

My point being is that if the law enforcement dont comply with there own laws, how can they justify prosecuting other people in these circumstances!!!

Oh and I have never seen a van get packed up and move on so quickly in all my life......!

Soulpatch (Having a happy day for once!)

Didn't I read, on a Scamera website, that they can park in illegal places if they wish?

Must check.............

I spoke to a scamera rep in Dorset recently. Where they park up - after I had a rant about them hiding - according to him has everything to do with their consideraton of their own 'Health and Safety'.

So, I suppose, parking illegally comes under that heading.

Something you must try is to park in front of the camera blocking its view, then wander off leaving the car there!

Having nothing to base this on, surely parking restrictions, lines etc are in place becasue the council/powers that be have determined that parking in that area is dangerous or causes a nuisance etc and parking is prohibited for everyone, unless you are the emergency services on a job.

Surely a scamera van is no more intrinsically safe than any other van/vehicle.

This also raises the question of the legality of any data gathered by the scamera whilst committing an offence, doesn't it.
Is it not the case that evidence gathered whilst breaking the law is inadmissable?

Opionions from the better informed please!!

since a scamera van in wales got done by someone from THEIR OWN FORCE!!! a while back i would have to assume that they have no more right to park in these places than we do.

Also the fact the he moved of effing quick says somthing as well.....

I know from parking ticket.co.uk that some council vehicles are immune from parking tickets whilst on business, Barstewards.
