Hi,
I got caught doing 166kph on the way to Le Mans by the police with guy on a bike.
When I had to sign the sheet it had the speed 166kph in one box and 157 in another. what does that mean?
They fined 135euros and they took my licence away, saying they would have to send it to Paris first then back to the UK, just wondering what will happen such as getting points or something like that?

Thanks

I got caught doing 163kph on the way back... I got away with a 90euro fine and they didn't take my licence away...

Sounds a bit harsh.

Yeah that's what I thought!

The offence they are doing me for on the paper is driving over 40kph over the speed limit which was 110kph.

I got caught speeding in Kent, The police had me in my Elise on the Wrong side of 100mph. they pulled me and my mate off the M20 to the services, the only problem was we were both dressed as Superman redface A little embarassing to say the least.

One of our group got pulled at 195kph 30miles out of Calais and had his car impounded, court hearing in sept! Joined us the next day in a hire car. I hasten to add that we cruised at a steady 140-150kph but he just got a bit trigger happy at the wrong time.

I got done on the way back to Calais at 167kph and my ticket has 158kph in a separate box - not sure what that's all about either. 90 Euro fine and a friendly Au Revoir....

I got caught at 202 kph and had my licence taken away from me and was fined 750 euros . I admit i was over the 110 kph limit but no where near 202kph but i got told i had to pay up or have my car taken and sold to cover the fine and i would be locked up . They could not give any prove of speeding and i had to pay up . And i had to sign to admit to it or they would still lock me up even if i had paid the fine. I found the hole thing very unfair and hope the french get the same treatment from are police when they come over here. I am also banned from driving in france until the end of september this year and they dont send the licence back till that has finished so i cant produce my licence in the uk if i get stopped.

We had 2 cars out of our group get pulled at the same time. Both in the 200kclub now.
Both received €750 fines or have their cars taken and sold if they didnt pay. Again no proof of us speeding and again driving licenses taken.

They say we went past a speed gun about 20 miles before they pulled us just leaving Arnarge (sp?) yesterday, but they didnt pull in the the other 4 cars? Seems a bit dodgey really.

Mind you i've heard that a report in france last year showed that 75% of speeding offences were commited buy non french residents, therefore mostly going un paid...

Got stopped at 147km/h on the N138 in supposedly a 90 km/h limit. 135euro fine and was on my way. He couldn't show me the speed as they pulled a frenchman (!) straight after me but he didn't mention keeping the licence or anything so took it on the chin.

Felt a bit of a chump when half the cars I'd overtaken during the previous half an hour came cruising past me as I filled out the paperwork... irked

3 of us taken to one side and told we were caught doing around 170 - that was total crap, but we didn't argue - I'm not sure how the French react to that, and they all had guns biggrin

Got 90 Euro fine each and told to take it easy from then on in - I think they actually caught the Orange Diablo and Yellow Wedge, but got blocked by a lorry pulling out and pulled us instead.

A guy in a blue Porker Turbo (with a good number plate) was pulled while we were paying and told he was caught at 190 odd - his car and license were to be taken from him with a 750 Euro fine... a few miles later he overtook us so he must have talked himself out of it! Nice one fella!

Feel a bit let down by them in all honesty as there was no proof offered and no appeal to be had - felt like I was paying for the police ball this year!

Got stopped early on Sunday about 60 miles out of Calais (had to leave early). Had my cruise set to 160kmh and they apparently clocked me at 154kmh in a 130kmh zone.

Very friendly, checked all my documents and let me off with a verbal warning to slow down. By the sounds of it I was very lucky..!!

See you next year.

Paying cash on the spot stinks of money for the boys to me. You should be given 30 days to pay any fine I would have thought. And the right to appeal if you think you were wrongly pulled and they have no proof? What sort of legal system do they think they are running here?

Just a thought but for anyone who's got a ticket and a bit of spare time on their hands, write a short letter to the British Embassy in France and ask for an explanation. OK if you were caught with smoking gun proof forget it but anyone who thinks they've been shafted could pave the way for some proper rights in future.

Just a thought!
