Hi fellow p'headers,

I am looking for a little help

My photography teacher at school has asked me to design an A3 poster in photoshop promoting a blackand white photography exhibition the students are having.

Where shall I start? - I want it to be oriiginal and eye catching

Thanks in advance

lol, I was going to say 'get some good B&W images', but I prefer your idea! biggrin It's more original.

Students dressed in black with white masquerade ball masks standing beside their pictures/photos.

Shot through a doorway (frames the picture)

or how about two persons side by side.
One dressed in white with a black mask and black gloves and the other vice-versa.

1.) Holding a B&W framed photo.
In the background is a banner with details written on it.

2.) Holding a silver tray with a framed photo in one hand and the lid in the other.

what do you think ?

How about lots of words "Black and White" (each in their respective colour) in lots and lots of different fonts filling one half of the A3 page, and the other half a nice B&W image with the details of the show over it?!

[/random thought number 1]

Take a photo in black and white, then invert it... (so black becomes white, and visa versa)

Everything B&W but with red text...should stand out very well.

Do a set of monochrome posters, one colour printed on another coloured background. Or maybe that's too Warhol.

"Because black and white isn't black and white"

The top 2/3 looks a little empty... maybe try cropping, or add something to that section? But I do like the use of a little bit of color... It seems like the technique of using a little bit of color with B&W could be turned into a theme for the poster, perhaps?

try mixing colour and b&W.

I just used a 5megapixel phone for this.

Used photoshop to section out the colour and saturate it more.

then i just put the rest in black and white. Think the purple/yellow colours work really well.

not really relevant but try that style

I quite like the idea of a colour picture, the kind that you would normally expect to look B&W being seen through a pair of glasses showing it B&W and how it looks more interesting. Cheesy tagline of 'see the world a different way' or summat.

Would do you an example of what I mean but I'm crap and that kinda thing!

Steve
edited to add the main picture wil still be colour, with the glasses view being B&W

I just knocked up this... perhaps an idea you could persue as part of the poster:

What about something you associate being black and white.. coupled with mine and GC's suggestion..?

Something like a few playing cards (pick a winning poker hand consisting of spades and clubs!) held by one white hand, and one black hand... then inverted so the black is white and visa versa...
