Ok so the much needed new garage is up , 10 x 8m , its a decent size and will be holding the rs , tt & atom , hope they dont fill it too much , its amazing how space is eaten up once you start filling it.

Anyway , as you can imagine im after a Pork "feel" for the place , i once saw a pic of a genuine looking "PORSCHE" sign in a garage too , how the hell would i get that!

So , its a grey floor with white walls and the walls need some decoration , suggest away!

Big posters.

Make sure they are fanbelt shots.

There are plenty of ways to replicate the Official Porsche signage that you see on display in OPCs etc. You just need to know a decent Graphics House or Screen Printers.

You can also ask Porsche Head Office, I am sure they will donate some older marketing materials or promotional posters that you can have framed etc. It would not hurt to ask.

Sounds Great, good luck and post some piccies when you think it is a fit state for public approval... smile

Cheers chaps , had plenty of pic requests already but i need to finish it , 2 ideas that will probably not go ahead are the 4 post ramps (will hardly ever use them , im not a mech!) and the plasma in the cieling (too flash , will never / hardly use)

i would get a nice piece of 5mm clear perspex, cover the rear with frosted glass then on the front apply the porsche crest and logo in the middle then have several photos perhaps in black and white say 2 or 3 each side of the main logo (depending on overall and photo size) with 1 car showing the history of porsche depending on what you feel is porsche to you. as you have a gt3rs perhaps historic photos etc.

finish and mount the perspex with ali spacers. will not be origional porsche but will be unique.

most sign companies can do the above from start to finish all they would need is the high res photos to print.

Might be something at http://www.signs-unique.co.uk/ or ebay is worth a look for posters.

If you've got some pictures of your cars then maybe do your own collage poster - http://www.photobox.co.uk/static/product_collagepo... ?

Let us see it when it's done eh?

I'm doing this too at the moment. Have you decided on an air compressor for the garage at all? I'm wondering what use i'll get out of it - clean brakes, inflate bike tyres, car tyres. Can you get power tools eg opening wheel nuts that use air - i'm sure thats what kwik fit etc use? Anyone know where?

Having a health spree so thinking of making the car share garage with a treadmill, plasma screen etc.

Ajit.

Have to say, if I had the luxury of a large garage that I'm fitting out myself, I'd go for a clinical Teutonic look. White tiles on the walls up to 4 or 5 foot from the floor, and grey ceramic tiles on the floor. Bright, flat strip lighting everywhere. Keep everything very clean and excessively tidy. Big red tool chests lined up along the wall, with tools lined up and never put away dirty.

This would be both practical for working on the car (if you do), as well as looking damn impressive and businesslike for when you collect the cars ...

I actually keep mine in a 19th century barn (clay tiles, original timbers) Its in a right state cosmetically but the structure is sound. It does look a little odd as when you swing open the doors you expect to see an old tractor or rusty combine harvester sitting there, not a new (ish) Porsche !

I am just finishing off having the floor re-concreted and once thats done I intend to have a huge Porsche crest painted on the floor, and park the car on it !

I decorated [?] the walls of my garage with tin plate signs, mirrors and a wine thermometer from Joe at www.barmirrors.com
He was a real pleasure to deal with and managed to find me some Racing and Surfing themed beer and tobacco signs.
