A good friend of mine is very close to buying a 360 Challenge Stradale.

The car will most likely be a 2004 with less than 10k on the clock and he will do approx 6,000 miles a year.

If we assume no track days, are the general servicing and running costs (not concerned with fuel/tyres/ins) much more than a normal 360?

Any rough rule of thumbs appreciated please smile

thanks,
al

6000 miles a year will be a killer for a CS in terms of depreciation

I know, that's the real shame of the cars. he may do marginally less, say 4-5k but he does drive his cars and it will probably do at least one Euro trip a year.

hey, I guess if he doesn't care about the biggest cost - depreciation , then running costs will be pocket change

er, not sure Pods confused

Who are you thinking of? But please don't post it as he likes to keep things fairly low key.

hehe No need to delete the comment Podie ... do you think I've won the lottery or something!

If I had £115k spare it wouldn't go on a CS ... I'd get my longed for 512TR and put therest towards another place in Spain biggrin

Well i have just sold mine 6 months and 3500 more miles for more than i paid for it. i completely loved that car but business must come first. i have been in a state of mourning ever since.
I didnt need any servicing in that time. it had just had belts and big service done.
Brakes are a big potential cost standing at £10k for new discs and pads. You say tyres arent a problem. the trouble is Pirelli dont make many and not very often either. i have 3 sets on order to cover this (i know car gone but still worth getting the tyres).
I cant think of anything else that may cost a wee bit more than normal.

If he gets one he will love it. i used mine as much as possible, work or weekend blasts.

Good luck in the search.

Thanks TC.

I don't think the search is the problem as Dick lovetts have a couple in right now for starters.

I think it is more of, are there any horrendous bills that need to be looked out for over and above a normal 360?

The brakes cost is just the sort of info he's after smile

Thats it really, the brakes.
The clutch and servicing etc are the same as Modenas i think. Just make sure you have a supply of tyres.
Truely outstanding cars. cloud9

dont agree that mileage is killer-or at least not yet. i've put 6k on my car in 14 mths and the price has apparently appreciated £10k since i bought it !
seriously tho , i wldnt be paying over £105k for a strad. they have recently caught a bid cos 5 have been bought in quick succession and 430lp looks like it'll cost £175 with premium. I bought @ £100 in apr 06 and there were no buyers around....

I've had mine for nearly 6months now and servicing is about £1850 for 6000 miles, tyres are about £300/corner with brake pads v toppy, coming in at £1600 fitted by Ferrari or about £1000 if sourced and fitted through specialists. I will be using a Caterham for trackdays from now on!!! Just make sure you get a Ferrari warranty with the car.

prices have bounced surprisingly over the last year. Great news for owners. Could your friend be buying at the very top of the market ?? Id wager yes, so depreciation could massively outweigh regular running costs.

It's certainly worth considering, if Tony paid £100k and they are now at £115k!

On my second one now Al. Paid too much money for the currect one but it was the exact car i wanted. Running costs never a major issue on either car, did 6000 miles in my first one and already done 3500 in this one. Car is pretty bomb proof.

Weigh up running costs v depreciation and the car is good news for owners.

I was in a petrol station in France a few Sundays ago and in came 7 Ferrari's, 3 of which were Stradale's, 2 red and one TDF. There was a F430, a 360, a 360 Spider and a silver 456GT. Anyone off here?
