Hi folks

Me and a mate are going down to Goodwood on Thursday night for the FOS, have been planning the trip for almost a year now and cant wait!!!

We are planning to take my Tamora down to add to the fun and make our 1000 mile round trip from Scotland a bit more interesting!

However, in the last week the car has developed an annoying problem when shutting the drivers door. Although the door is closing as normal, the car doesnt seem to register that I have shut the door and when i start the car it is giving me a warning that the drivers door is open when it is clearly shut! Also the window is not moving into position when the door is closed, leaving a small gap. It is only happening intermitantly and I can usually cure it by re-opening the door, and closing it again unil it registers properly.

The main worry that I have is that when this problem occurs, the car wont lock, as it thinks the drivers door is still open! The car is going to be parked at our B&B for 4 days at the weekend and obviously this would be a major problem!!!

I have done a search and it appears that this is a fairly common issue, especially after washing the car or a heavy downpour (my car has been subject to both over the last few days!)

Does anyone know if there is a manual overide that would enable me to lock the car if this happens when we are away? Or is there a simple way of fixing this problem (and I do mean simple as I am no mechanic!!!)?

Also do you have any advice for me with regards pre-journey checks I should be doing, and what to take with me for my cars first major trip away?

Cheers

Mark

Mine is doing this at the moment. You usually just need to give the door a gentle tug from the inside (or push with your bumn from the outside) to get it to register closed and the window to raise. Worse is the fact that if the door sensor comes 'open' while parked it will set the alarm off. Mine did this ay Gaydon on Sunday.

In theory a simple microswitch repair.

You may have a bigger problem if it continues to rain and you're parking on the fields at Goodwood. I recall a few years ago that it was slightly messy around the carpark entrance.

Hi, I don't know whats wrong with you door mate.
But one bit of advice is,get there very early, and stay very late.
I did it the other way the first time 5 years ago, que'd for nearly 2 hours to get in, and more than that to get out!!
So stay on to watch the prize giving, after that have a barbie for a couple of hours.
We leave it until around 9pm, then clean and green all the way home(hopefully)

This any use;
The microswitch is inside the pillar lock mechanism. You need to unscrew the 3 very small screws that hold the chromed cover on. Once the cover is off you can remove the lock mechanism via the two capcrews.

Chances are the microswitch lever has got dislodged or fallen off completely so be careful as you loosen the switch that it doesn't fall down inside of the pillar. It's possible that they are rusted. try WD40 left for a while may help
