I have been looking for sometime for a good VX HPC, mainly as I'm not a big fan of anything Rover based and have heard the usual K series stories. Which are propably old woves tales anyhow. However I am getting curious now if I should go for a K series version instead. I dont intend to do any track days. So basically want something good for touring around and with very good acceleration. Have around 15K so which would be best option for wizzing around the countryside. HPC, Roadsport or early Superlight. I have defected from TVR so want something that accelerates on a close par to a Griffith for that money.

Any thoughts.

For purely road use, you could go for a Roadsport. Try and get a VVC engined one as it is a nice torquey engine. 5 speed box would be fine for most of the time.
If you want a car that really thrills I would go for a Superlight. The 1600 Supersport engine plus 6 speed box is immense fun in the top part of the rev range. You also get adjustable suspension, widetrack front suspension, LSD and a few carbon bits. My car started life as a Superlight and although now heavily modified, it was a brilliant first 7.

I'd go along with Sean on that. My own car is a 6-speed Supersport, so mechanically very similar to the Superlight (engine, box, wide-track, big brakes etc) without carbon but with carpets and weather gear etc. Has the advantage of comfort over the Superlight and a considerable saving in price! You might miss the low-down grunt of a TVR but the Supersport engine and 6-speed box is a really sweet combination.
