Six points BEFORE passing your test?
Discussion
What's the situation if you get six points before passing your test? Is that a ban these days?
Friend of the gf's son let his mate drive his car while he was over the limit and he's just got six points for aiding and abetting (I'm assuming) by allowing his car to be driven.
Will he be able to drive when he passes his test.... Will he even be able to take lessons?
Just not sure if the six points in the first two years thing applies if you're on a provisional.

Can you get done if the driver of your car is over the drink drive limit? Do you have to be in the car? Were there any special circumstances i.e. was the driver a trillion times over the limit?
AIUI...If it's your car and you know/suspect that the guy you're letting drive it is over the limit then yes,it's aiding and abetting, just like if you let him drive it and you knew he wasn't insured....Edited by esselte on Wednesday 20th June 13:06

why did he tell the police he knew his mate was over the limit??? bit stupid really.
Mind you,to play Devil's Advocate for a minute, unless he had an intoximeter how could he know for definite that his friend was over the limit?Unless he was falling over drunk obviously...esselte said:

He lets a provisional Licence holder drive the car.
If he was acting as 'supervisor' when driver lathered then he enters the realm of aid and abet and as such can attract the same sentence as driver.
Just wonder though if the points were awarded for driver not complying with terms of Driving Licence?
Methinks there could be much more to this story.

Young lads being stupid and get caught bang to rights first time... Not only did he get points and fined, his parents also made him sell his car! I think he's learned an expensive lesson.
