Not sure if anyone has already asked this but I heard that someone was offering to convert the old Cayenne to the facelift look. Bonnet, bumper, wings, headlamps, rear bumper and tail lights. Does anyone have any idea who this is...?
I can offer another kind of facelift for any Cayanne..involves a nice solid brick wall...

Not a great fan of the Cayenne - think both the Mk1 and Mk2 both look pretty gross
But, surely modifying an earlier model with the later panels, trim, etc, would be a case of spending lots of money only to devalue it - like the chap who converted his 996 to a 997?
F*ck me-you mean theres something you can do to you can actually devalue a 996 even more?!!!!!!!!

I remember a company did a similar thing with the Mercedes SL, putting the current cars sleeker bonnet on the older model. A complete waste of time and money in my opinion and is on par with the guys that put M3 badges on there BMW 316's'.
By all means if you are planning to keep the car for good then why not, it is your money BUT i cant think of many people that would take it seriously come selling time. Real Boy Toys have had a 2000 996 with an aftermarket face-lifted front in the classifieds for months - Looks like no one will touch it.

Why would upgrading the 996 front to a 997 ruin it? I thought the 997 look was an improvement...
Because you end up with 'neither one thing nor the other'Of course it's up to people to do what they like with their cars - it's their money - their choice.
But there is a stigma in the market place to these sorts of mods. Most people prefer unmolested 'originality'. Extensive body panel changes and re-painting is often viewed in the same context as 'damaged/repaired'.

I see. But if I could only afford a 996 (at the cheaper end), what is the price difference between trading in the 996 for a 997 and paying for a front end conversion?Of course it's up to people to do what they like with their cars - it's their money - their choice.
