Anyone know what thetraffic jam was all about ? Was it just the volume of cars at the peage

volume of traffic it seems. wasn't as bad last year. There is a route around it that I have found and will definately do next year!

I asked the toll booth attendant as he was handing me a much-appreciated free bottle of water.

His response was to roll his eyes and sigh "Le Mans" - so I'm guessing just weight of traffic caused by the pilgrammage home!

That was fun, the engine tempreture started creeping up so all windows and sunroof open and heater & blowers on max.

I think this means at jam at the peage at the northern end, towards Rouen. Maybe get off at the previous exit which leads to the N138, head north and then pick up the autoroute from Caen, and you're back on course. R.
