Maser 4200 check engine light
Discussion
I had only recently (last 3 months) been using higher octane fuels: V-Power, Esso and generic super unleaded.
My CEL now appears - is this possibly related? I've done a number of soft boots, which seem to turn the light off for all of 10 minutes. Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions as to other possibilities or is it another expensive dealer trip?

Not as a consequence of fuel, in my experience (cannot rule it out, though...) If it clears itself after a "hard reboot" (switch battery power off from boot switch, wait 30', turn on again) it is likely one of the lambda sensors triggering. Does it happen on start-up, or at service temp?
Would try to get a OBD code reader and look at the code. They are cheap and can save you many trips to the dealer...

Thanks, I'll get the chaps at Carr's to take a look while they sort some other minor niggles for me.
P.S. Huge recommendation for Carr's of Exeter - their labour costs are half of HR Owen and provided you have flexibility, they bring a truck up and bring your car back. You get the feeling their customer facing staff are long-standing enthusiasts rather than deal-hungry estate agents.

Agree. Bought my new car from them. Cannot comment on the quality of the mechanical servicing, but the chaps "at the back" seem knowledgeable and indeed very open to questions and friendly, something not quite seen these days in main dealerland. Customer-facing staff are also on-the-money, very nice to deal with. Hope you get it sorted.

Apologies for the thread hijack, so Ed, new car; Gransport perchance? Pray tell the details.... (and the odd piccy once delivered would be good).Edited by Troesma on Saturday 23 June 12:07
