Gracing Perth with my presence from 1st of August for about a week. Apart from going to a 'real' footie match (Mighty Eagles vs Dorkers), anyone know of any Petrol head gathering during this time?

Truck racing at Wanneroo on the 11-12 August, but that is prolly too late. Doubt if there is much else, being mid winter...
There may be something on at the AHG track at the airport, have a look at
www.mcmotorsport.com.au

No idea why you would waste time going to watch a bunch of thugs play aussie rules, I would love to see normal assault laws enforced on the field, the whole lot of them jailed, and the stupid "game" disappear forever. Our local newspapers sports section is usually about 20 pages of crap about the overpaid morons, lucky to get a few lines about a GP or the V8s, nothing about any other motorsport.

Perth...Motorsport?!?! Doesnt exist!

I doubt there will be anything worth watching at AHG as the sprints are always held the last Sunday of the month.

It always struck me as bizarre that motorsport is not held over the winter here...it would make for the occasional wet race and with the cool weather there would be more spectators and it would be a lot kinder on drivers and cars!

Agree with the thoughts about 'aussie rules'...incredibly tedious to watch and even more tedious is the press being constantly filled with reports of their off field antics.

heheslightly harsh comment, although I have said many times that Perth is prolly the worst place in the world to live if you're a petrolhead...

I don't have this year's AHG event calendar as we aren't running in the sprint series this year but I think you're right about the last Sunday in the month.
The proper (Wanneroo) motorsport season here is autumn/winter/spring, I meant that there prolly won't be much else (car show/cruises etc) in Winter.when
